Cool 4" Straight now on! Whewwww its loud!

Just got done installing Rips 4" exhaust w/o muff. Took 3 hrs, but it was raining so that slowed me down. Every thing fit pretty good with some adjusting and fitting.

Now, this thing is pretty loud (DUH! Straight pipe). All you 4" straight pipers, have you had any problems with the law?
Thats all im worried about. I love the sound of the note, turbo, turbo, and turbo!! I like it, but its close to the line of needing a muff.

Any officer problems for you guys??? -Jake

No one has bugged me, even before putting on the resonator. Either in my Ram or the semi.

we don't have a smog test on diesels in TX, so my buddy just honked the horn and flashed the brights to make it look like he was actually inspecting the thing

Gets quieter the longer you go with it. Either that or your hearing gets worse.

I love it!

My muffler was replaced by a 12" resonator & when I took off the cat ...

Jake ... ck my pics ... I fixed the noise problem with a little exhaust routing & pointing.

Actualy, I think it just depends on where you live and how "picky" the law is. Since you're not in Cali, then I wouldn't worry about it. Although some folks up around your part have had some lift height and noise probs, I wouldn;t worry about it til they actually give your grief about it. Keep on keepin on.

I've had cops give me the thumbs up on mine (and it's dumped under the bed). I've passed inspection 2 or 3 times (to many beers ago to remember).

DZLPWR, nice meeting you @ Claremont. I've been running a 3" straight for the last couple of years. In the Richmond VA area, the state troopers don't seem to be big fans of straight pipes. I have been stopped a few times. But, I only had one trooper inspect my exhaust system. He gave me a ticket for not having a cat .... not the muffler. But it was useless trying to explain that it didn't have a cat from the factory.

My tailpipe rusted out of my muffler on my stock system, for a temporary fix, could I just put a 3 inch peice of pipe to replace the muffler and cat until I get my 4 inch SS exhaust?
How loud would it be?

My son and I both have stacks with no restrictions at all. Have never been stopped yet and these thigs are loud, especially his since he has four inch pipe from the turbo back. Some people give you the thumbs up and some just stare and shake their heads. They're no louder than some bikes or big trucks I've heard.

My 92 is straight piped and is not that loud.
