4" ex install at turbo connection ??
hi
got a 4 in ex kit yesterday and wondering if anyone has a close pict of how the original pipe comes off the turbo .
it was cold here today so i did not venture out to look over turbo .
guessing hardest part is getting old pipe off turbo ?
are there studs or bolt to remove / install it ? what size wrench do i need?

the 98 should have a 2-bolt flange that can be reached from under the truck. take 2 bolts out and presto remove down pipe. just remember for best results when installing this flange tighten 2-bolts evenly to keep flared pipe centered on flange for best sealing.
it depends do you want to get the elbow off the turbo or do you want to get the downpipe off the elbow?.. to get the down pipe off the turbo you only need a really long extention i think a 10mm socket and maybe a air gun to get it off as they will probably be very rusty. as for geting the whole elbow off its just one clamp.
hi agin
well i got old system off today
flange bolts were 14 mm soaked them with penatrate and the came off from under truck with long extensions .
tried to install new down pipe and could BARELY get new bolts to start and then they got tight before tightining pipe to flange ??
found out pipe flange holes are too close together so tomorow i will have to file app 1/8 from each hole to widen pattern so bolts will thread in and not binde in flange .
just hope it seals after pattern is correct width !
anyone else have this prob or just me ????
saw the clamp to remove elbow but i made it realy loose and elbow did not move ????
clamp seamed stuck at bottom and elbow was tight ?????
should i tap it ti loosen it , got dark and i was cold and did not need another prob so i stopped here .
1.5 hours to install ?????? not this time !

when i installed my system i was going to leave the elbo on and just take the down pipe off at the flange but on my truck they were to rusted and i could not get a good angle on them from in the truck, so i just took the v-band clamp off the elbo. the band clamp was stuck on but all i did was loosen it all the way and tap the elbo and it broke loose and the clamp came loose and i could remove the down pipe with the elbo on it. When i got the down pipe out on the ground it took a breaker bar just to get those darn bolts off
. I took the elbo off the old down pipe and put it back on the turbo thinking that i would just bolt the new down pipe on with the nice new flange bolts but when i went to bolt the down pipe on i couldnt get to the bolts very well and they didnt line up very well so i just took the elbo off again and bolted the down pipe to it which was a lot easyer now that it was out from under the truck. matching the elbo up with the turbo and puting the V band clamp on is a lot easyer then trying to bolt up the the down pipe from under he truck. but thats just me

hi agin ,
well what a difference 1 day makes !
got a lot warmer outside today soooo.
filed the 2 flange bolt holes outward app 1/8 in and stuck in the downpipe .
went on so easy this time i could not believe it !
sealed at turbo perfectly , whole problem was bolt holes were too close together!
the rest of the system went on very easy , i added a thin coating of anti sieze to all clamps and jouints, and test fitted all joints and marked them with majic marker first .
all hangers were in correct location instalation only took app 1 hour outside laying on piece of cardboard on damp ground , garage is full o junk !
i am over all pleased with the system , however 2 things i woild like different if i had knowen in advance ,
1 pipe flange to bold hole fit was slightly off , small problem that caused much frustration .
2 i wish the pipe was 1 gauge thicker as i think it would prob last longer .
otherwise system fit was exclent !
MKO was the brand name , i got it off e bay $300.00 shipping included nothing extra to buy !
thanks to all who replied with sugestions , i did not have to remove the turbo elbo at all .
