Fill up tank, take your trip, count the miles (be sure your tach/tires are correct), fill up again when you finish, only THEN you'll find out the REAL fuel consumption.
I did originally state that this was just one snapshot from the overhead, or one small slice of the total pie. I can't do a hand calc of a 75 mile snippit. The point was merely to state we have trucks that can get good mileage even with big power. I KNOW that a whole tank won't produce these numbers, it was just a small example, SHEESH!
Never mind, just floor it, burn rubber and burn fuel till theres no tomorrow...

But then you have to figure in the cost of the propane you are burning. Still cheaper I'm sure!

How did you set up the propane?

The overheads are just so inaccurate. I don't trust them at all on a bombed engine. Because it is basing the calculations on stock fuel delivery. I know a guy with a Superduty on 38's that swears he is getting 35MPG with the Juice, which is close to the 38MPG he got in his 24v 4x4 dually. He doesn't see how the overhead could be off, so he won't check it by hand.

What makes you so sure YOU'RE correct with this statement?

I'm not saying that they are all that accurate, but I believe they process the amount of fuel used vs. miles driven, regardless of bombed or not. If not, how would it know the difference between a stock truck being floored or being driven with an egg inbetween the foot and the skinny pedal.

I was under the impression that it was a calculation done based off throttle position, rpm, and the fueling map. I might be wrong, though.

Oh, and 12v motors didn't have the option for fuel calculations. Best I can figure is that being all mechanical there's absolutely no simple way of determining fuel consumption.

I just took a 550 mile trip (one way). Filled up before I left and again when I got there. I got 20.5 mpg @ 60 mph on the way there. I got 15.7 mpg @ 70 mph on the way back. These were my figures. I had to find a Walmart (it was a Sunday) to get a new tire on the way back though. My truck has 4.10 gears also. I think my old truck would get about 23 mpg @ 75 mph but it had the 3.50 gears and the timing was bumped up on it.

It is based on the stock fueling map, the box fools the computer, the overhead still goes off the maps, it doesn't actually meter the fuel that is injected.

As far as what I've read, it's based on pedal position, messages from the APPS.

Yeah, not an actual measurement, it's based on the delivery map put in at the factory.
