31.6 MPG @ 5x5 What's not to love ???
A 24 v with auto doing 20s ??? You've got to consider yourself lucky, get off truck, lay rug on ground and start praying "thank you"
You probably can get a little better but you'll have to drive 45mph, being a hazard for everybody, and gain only 2 mpg.
I don't see what's the purpose to get a 7000lbs truck with 350hp and run it like a Prius. I bought mine for the power I get when I need it towing, the decent mileage in between, and the safety of the rig.
If I am doing 18/20mpg while normal driving I am very happy.

I do 1,000 mile tests a couple times a yr and average for all driving is usually 16.8 mpg.

i got myself a scangauge2 recently and i watch it religously{till the novellty wears off}and ive noticed a diference in milage from the way i driveit, mines a stick and you can see a huge diference in load on the engine and milage just from shifting to early, anything less than 1500 is lugging and the load increases, shift at 16-1700 and the load stays low.the power of these trucks is cool but on unloaded trips you can get pretty good milage with a few minor driving changes, and also the original poster of this thread has a 2wd which i think makes a huge diference,a 2wd with 3.73 and a 6pd would get wicked milage.
I'm not to sure why lots of you poke so much fun at this topic. Is it because you have no interest in driving with a slightly lighter foot because it's just not a "manly" way to drive? Or is $3.00 a gallon chicken feed to you? It just cost me $90 for a fill up!
Don't be hatin just cuz someone is trying to check this truck out in ways that are different from pure horsepower and how to best consume the maximum of fuel...

At the topic....not at you. Like you said earlier..." The hardest part is keeping your foot out of all that power."
Not making light of your efforts but...
I gave up trying for better 4 yrs ago. I won't drive 50 mph cause time is money.... and above that I get the same mileage what ever I seem to do!
The true miracle is...we don't loose any mpg with the HP!
I'll bet (unless it's a monster) you get same mileage with or without your boat in tow!!

It's not a big boat, just a 20 foot skeeter. It doesn't get as good while towing, perhaps 18.5-19 mpg.
But I am convinced that the JWA has dramatically increased the mileage, along with all the extra power. I mean lets face it, don't you drive about 98% of the time nice and easy?

I DO pay attention to my fuel consumption, if I tow on a 600 mile trip I am sure to keep a light foot both ways. There is $ 45.00 difference between 12mpg and 17mpg, to achieve this I slow down to 62mph instead of 72mph, which means I will get to destination 15 minutes later, and back 15 minutes later.
You do the math.
I believe we were criticizing the fact you are stating your truck does 31.6mpg because you read it on overhead trip computer.
Fill up tank, take your trip, count the miles (be sure your tach/tires are correct), fill up again when you finish, only THEN you'll find out the REAL fuel consumption.

I even taught my wife to do it in her car, easy as pie.
I laugh at people who recite what their MPG's are based soley on the on board monitor. It's a nice referrence, I look at mine daily to see what's going on.
Thing is, when I fill up, I also tend to see lower numbers (NEVER higher) when hand calculating.
