2nd Gen Smarty Updates????

It appears that the 2nd gen Smarty has updated files but they all look the same but dated Aug. 20, 2007??? Are these files different than the old ones? Thanks...

They look the same to me other than the "revised" date.

I think that we the 2nd Gen crowd have been left behind and the focus is on the new trucks now.

I wasted $700 on a smarty because they were gonna write custom programs and have all these updates...

I shoulda wiped my rear end with 7 $100 bills and bought an EZ

Tell me about it. I used to be one of the people who said "give them a chance and the updates will come"... I no longer think that sentiment is valid.

If Marco really had intentions of providing updates they would have been done by now.

What would be the harm in putting off the CR crowd to work on some updates for the 2nd Gens? Lord knows we've been beyond patient.

In the end, it looks as though future updates for the Second Gen crowd is a non-starter... Now that MADS has it's foothold in the 3rd Gen performance market there's no need to deal with us. What's to gain?

Live and learn...

I would advise anyone that I know not to buy a Smarty solely based on the promises of future upgrades.

I've run both the Smarty and EZ back to back on the track. The EZ has more timing without a doubt than any odd numbered Smarty program. The EZ gives me better mileage for a daily driver application with big injectors.

My thoughts exactly. I bought on the assumption that
updates would follow. #5 , #7 , and #9 programs have
too much off boost smoke ,so I was forced to load #3
and lost mid-high rpm performance. I just want a program
somewhere between #3 and #5.

This was one of my reasons for selling mine. I went back to a Drag Comp.

I had the DC before, sold it to buy the Smarty and now I'm back to the DC. I am much happier with the smooth power of the DC. That "touchy" pedal was getting old.

Updates? "Be patient" right.

I also find it funny that certain posters will not even post in threads like this now. When the smarty was first coming out the main guys pimping the smartys would be all over any thread pertaining to it.

Now it's just.....crickets.

I guess they have no defense, so they will not show their face.

So for someone like me with a 24V CTD '01 looking for a box...fuel and timing...what would be a good one? I was told Smarty by several folks but was also looking into Edge EZ or Quads XZT+ or others? any advice?

Wanted something to improve mileage and give a mild increase in power for a reliable daily driver.

Back when the Smarty first came out, we didn't know that it was gonna be released, updated once and then left to die. I still run mine, but not in the same capacity as I once did.

I agree with Tate. When the Smarty came I thought it was great and had no problem recommending it. I also knew it wasn't perfect for every application, but with the promise of future upgrades via the USB I had little concern.

The only way to respond to this is to avoid buying any other products from the Smarty vendor and don't recommend it to anyone. That's the great thing about these boards, if a product doesn't deliver on promises made, we can act as a whole.

Like I said earlier, I won't recommend it to any Second Gen owners again.

I have tried them all & actually beta tested the XZT for quad & I can honestly say that the XZT is by far the best for mileage, towing & switch on the fly fun. Just make sure that you buy the XZT+. Not the old XZT.
