2nd Gen guys I need your help!

Its been awhile since I have been doing any research on the 2nd performance stuff and I am wanting your guys help. Well since I sold my 2nd gen to a buddy and have been playing with the CR motors I am kind of outta the loop on the VP motors.

My buddy that I sold my 2000 wants to build it up some and was asking me were to go. He hasn't done anything to the truck since I sold it to him a couple of years ago. So it stands with all the stuff that I did to it when I had it.

This is what the truck currently has on it:

100 hp injectors (BD XXX)
Pusher pump
Edge Comp box hot
HX40 turbo
exhaust and intake
Southbend clutch CON FE 13.5

So if you guys could point me in the direction of what would be best for some serious sled pulling. We have been talking about a HRVP44 and Smarty, but what your opinions and expert advice.

Thanks for your help!!!

Dustin

I've never been in a truck with an hx40, but I've heard they are kind of limited, from what you listed probably tell him to start looking at bigger turbos or even another to use as twins, I'm no expert, but seems the box/injectors are covered for now.

Well if your sled pulling the best bet would be a turbo in the 2.8 Class , You can do your research and find a good one. A SO pump will supply all the fuel you need, get some big injectors , a set of rings and studs and a DD clutch and your good! PM me if i can help!

Dont forget traction bars and loops

Mach 4's or something bigger, Adrenaline and a Silver 64 or HTT 64/71/14 and water/meth to keep it from melting.

Alot of pulls wont allow water, Some will! How hardcore of a sledpull truck is this guy doing? depending on what class he'll be determins the build! I went for the all out 2.8 or 3.0 class in my suggestions!

SO meaning standard output? This is an HO truck so is that the same pump, and are you saying that the stock VP44 is all will need, and a HRVP would be of any benefit.

Were doing studs but are waiting tell the head needs to come off before fire rings. What injectors? (Who's) And I'm trying to get him to get a DD clucth!

Would a programmer stacked on the EDGE be of any benefit?

Thanks for the help!

No,
A HO Pump was on the 6spds, Go with a pump for a 5 Spd or auto truck and you'll have more fuel to play with! A HRVP wont add any benifit in your circumstances, and IMO probably hurt more than help! I Like Don's Injectors and DDP's but I know Olee Poole (A Vendor here) has some interesting stuff going on! You might get up with him!

No need to stack any programmer or anything else for that matter. Make sure if its a Comp its a drag comp or a Hot if he has JWA.

Also , Keep in mind, Anytime you wait for the Headgasket to fail your just asking for problems! It's best to fix it right to begin with!

What class does he plan to pull in? Is the truck still going to be a daily driver?
This will help us help you more!

So you are saying that a HO pump will be less than a SO pump? Because it is a 6 speed truck, should we go with a differnet pump?

Not sure what class he is going to pull in but mainly local diesel classes. And it going to be driven but not a daily driver by no means.

Thanks again,

Dustin
