255/85

Do you guys think I could fit a 255/85 under my truck? I'm a good ways away from getting tires, but this size always looks good on dually's when I see them.

My last set was that size...didn't handle as well and they seemed to wear faster but that could have just been the tire brand (Dunlops)

They looked funny too

12vKing, is your truck a 4x4? I think 255s will fit either way, I was just curious. It looks higher in the front then most 2wds but not quite high enough for a 4wd. The dually fenders turned out really nice.

I have that size on the truck in my sig. 1st gens have teeny front wheel wells and they don`t hit at all. Being my truck is a SRW I can`t help on the rear fitment.

On a 4wd they'll fit for sure. Incase you're interested, I believe Toyo is the only brand that makes that size in a load range E and they're about $200 per tire. Gotta look for them too, I don't think most tire shops carry it.

It's a 2wd, I have a spacer in the front.

yep, seems any 255/85 tire is expensive!! when i was looking at tires a few months ago i wanted to go skinny and tall, just what the 255/85 offered but the price scared me away. plus, you'll find mud tire options and i didnt want them. apparentlym Toyo has a non-mud pattern, but at $200/tire on a dually i'd cry!!!

I was thinking. I have my old pair of 285/75's, well I have 4 of them. If I got 2 more of them could I run them on my dually. What size spacer would I need in the rear?

Between dad and i we have bought 18 255's over the past coupla years and they cost us about 50-75 bucks per tire. The shops couldnt get rid of them so we bought them on the cheap.

You have the smaller offset wheels, so im not sure on the spacer. dad and i both have the larger offsets and have zero problems.

However, im not really worried about the whole rubbing issue.... my next set will probably be 265's or 285's.

Ive seen a ford dually truck run 305's on the rear i talked to him and he said he had to bolt em up then put air in them
