Post 24V Upgrade Hierarchy

Found this interesting article that outlines an upgrade methodology for the 24V ISB engine. Which improvements should be done first, second, etc. What do other members think, IMHO this makes sense. Sorry in advance if I am not supposed to reference other diesel forums, just sharing my educational endeavors .

Good article, but I think the fuel pressure gauge should be the top of the list.

Nice list. I think the exhaust ratings are very conservative.

Nice article--exactly what the title shows.

However, the performance information is a bit dated. Ted Really knows his stuff, but since article was written in 2001 (updated July '05), there have been serious improvements to injectors, turbos, and boxes to enhance power and still be a daily driver.

With all due respect to Ted, that information is a little out of date. Times have changed a good bit since he first wrote that.

His initial recommendation is:
1) Guages
2) Exhaust
3) Intake
4) Fuel system upgrades
5) Injectors
6) Transmission or clutch upgrade
7) Electronic fuel or timing enhancements
8) Turbocharger
9) Revisit electronic fuel or timing enhancements

The problem with this order is you can find yourself selecting the wrong transmission or electronic upgrade without a HP goal.

I think we're due for an update on this "proper order" writing.

I'm working on one now

How about:
1) Fuel system upgrades
2) Guages
3) Electronic fuel or timing enhancements
4) Intake
5) Transmission or clutch upgrade
6) Exhaust
7) Injectors
8) Turbocharger
9) Revisit electronic fuel or timing enhancements

I'd like to even combine fuel system/ guages and turbo/exhaust for simplicity's sake.

Waiting for Hohn's mega reply
