24v Launching

when i try to power brake my truck it will only make 15 pounds of boost and won't even spin the tires, and then when i let off the brake and keep it wide open throttle it jumps back and forth on rpms until it reaches wide open and shifts. if i take off from an idle without spooling it up it does fine. does this sound familiar to anyone? and what can i do about that?

My truck wont spin the tires either when I power brake. Not sure why. I thought it was something with my edge juice. What kind of boost do you see when you let off the brake?

it will only make about 25 to 30 till it shifts, the truck makes around 40 to 45 though, i think it might be because the exaust is too small.

2000-2002 24 valvers have a software inside the engine control module, called the torque managment control or something.

Bd diesel has a top speed eliminator which also removes the torque limiter.
http://www.dieselperformance.com/ind...duct/index/43P

edit: also Smarty removes approx 75% of that torque limiter.

4 topics below is allready a topic about torque managment.

Start saving for a trans, doing boosted launch's can break your input shaft or worse.
Be careful!

I can do a rear burnout running just my comp box, no smarty. The rear starts spinning around 12 to 15psi mark, depending on traction. I put down a 100 footer several times, its good way to get justify new tires. Prior to put in the comp box, the rear never broke lose. The smarty helps, but you get more smoke on intial spool-up. You can spin so fast it will trigger you're ABS system. Going from third into fourth, is fun.

Will the edge juice take care of the torque management?

Nope, only a RAD will or a smarty will partially work around it.

Can you stack the smarty and the juice? Or just get rid of the juice?

You'll have to run the Smarty on the even numbers (no timing). It's a great thing. And yes, you better have a built trans. Boosted launches = broken stock parts.

I also was unhappy that I could not do a burn out by just flooring it ! The only way was to hit it in the water . ( like when you were a kid with your bike)
The other way , would be to have some one in the truck , and jack it up , get the tires spining and drop it . (do not do this in the garage unless the truck is facing out the door ) .
I tried doing the power brake thing and broke the 2nd gear band and adjuster
it was not worth it .

I can spin my tires at idle!

Just step on the brakes good, make sure it's in in first gear....5spd, then dump, slip, gently release, the clutch and that marvelous anti-stall feature keeps it humming along at 815rpm slowly spinning the tires.

It won't do it in 2nd gear without a little wet pavement, gravel, or 1500 rpm to start with, but once spinning, I can let off the go pedal and it will spin at idle in second gear.
