2003 Banks Exhaust
2003 Banks Exhaust
Just got this e-mail, how true do you suppose the numbers are. I was surprised that they didn't go to a 5" being the stock system is 4" after the muff already.

Dear 2003 Dodge Owner:

Just a quick note to say that we have released the 4" Stainless Steel
Monster Exhaust for the new 24 Valve Diesel. The demand for this exhaust kit
is high, so feel free to call and ask any questions you may have. The
Horsepower gain is 18HP and the Torque gain is 30LBS rear wheel torque with
the exhaust alone.

Best Regards,

Patrick

Gale Bank's Engineering
546 Duggan Avenue
Azusa, California 91702
800-438-7693 Extension 4127
www.bankspower.com
Re:2003 Banks Exhaust
For what it's worth, there is another company that is advertising a 4" turbo to tail pipe, and they claim average of 19hp/43tq at the wheels just from changing. I don't know if I believe all of that, but I'm sure that the upgrade to 4" all the way through has to help with EGT.
Re:2003 Banks Exhaust
The exhaust has got to give some power, not that much though. All I know is when I was dead stock (even exhaust), I raced my friends 01 Crew Cab Shortebd 4x4 PSD and he beat me. After the exhaust, I beat him. So it does add some power. I don't know about 19/43 though.
Re:2003 Banks Exhaust
A H.P. gain of 18 and 30 on the torque????? :
I don't think so!!

I would like to see that on a dyno other than theirs!
ALOT of testing has been done on these diesel exhaust
systems (4" and 5"
and the numbers posted by Banks
seem high to me. I can tell you this, when I installed
my 4" exhaust I saw NO INCREASE in H.P. or torque
and that was on a Mustang Inertia Load Dyno. But,
that was on my "old" 96' 12 valve. Maybe the new
03' common rail engines respond better.

---------
John_P
