2001 Fuel system

Just looking for some input. I just got done installing Quadzilla Adrenaline and its looking like I need to do something with my fuel system.... the psi 's are running low and when I get on the pedal I get a low psi warning. So being rather new to Diesel mods I was looking for some input on systems.Either Air Dog or FASS Platinum or something else I am open to sugestions. I dont plan on going with crazy power mods just would like what I have to work.. the truck is my daily driver.
Thanks for your time John

There are a few different options when it comes to upgrading the fuel systems on the VP44 cummins. It all depends on your budget and what your looking for overall power even down the road. If you go to glacierdieselpower.com or vulcanperformance.com those two sites have alot of available fuel system upgrades. Do a search on here, alot of good info about fuel system upgrades and what different people have done. Both the Fass and Airdog systems are good options, but are a little pricey if your on a budget. What are you seeing now for fuel PSI numbers?

A budget really isnt a problem.... I would rather spent a little more now than have to do it again later. Running down the road its running about 10 to 12 psi but when I give it some pedal even to just go up a hill it drops to 4to 6 psi and gives me a warning. The only thing I wonder is are these electronic displays as accurate as digital. They should be preset to zero ..correct?
Thanks for your help John

I agree with CTD. There are many options. I have a Air Dog 150 and I really like it. My fuel pressure at idle 18psi, wide open 16psi. My buddy has a Walbro pump in his 2002 and it cost him about 1/3 of what I paid for mine at the time and his fuel pressure stays a between 13 & 16 psi. You need to keep fuel to the VP44 or it will die. Another option is the FASS DDRP repalcement pump. It replaces the stock pump, bolts into the same location. They say it supplies 33% more fuel than stock. Just do a search on fuel systems and you will find all the information you need to make the right choice. Does the Adrenelane come pyro? On your year truck you need to monitor you fuel pressure and you should watch your EGT's. If you start towing your EGT's can climb up there. Good luck.

I went with a Raptor 150 on my old truck and will probably put one on the 06 if the stock pump ever fails. Complete kit with everything to install is $399. Worked great for me.

You might start by going to big fuel lines and eliminating the banjo fittings. There's several kits available. It solved my problem without investing big money in a fuel pump upgrade. If you decide to get another fuel pump later, at least you've already eliminated the major restrictions in the fuel system. Just my 2 cents.

Sounds like you are seeing pretty decent fuel pressure numbers for running a stock lift pump and stock lines. If i were you, i think i would change out all the lines to 3/8ths and get rid of all the banjo fittings and use the stock lift pump untill it dies on you, then you can replace the pump. I know glacier sells a kit called the maximizer which will do all of the things mentioned above. Just and idea. Heres a link to the kit http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/pr...?pf_id=9852MAX
I think that would take care of the lower fuel PSI problem that your having at WOT. If you plan on going for more power in the near future, then you might want to look into doing something else.

I too think that your numbers are good for now. I would not bother upgrading fittings unless you are going for 600+HP; I think it is a feel good measure unless fittings are restrictive, which they are not at lower HP.
I would keep a close watch on the pressures and in the meantime zero in on an upgrade that looks best to you. Since budget is a non issue one of the full kits will work great.
I built my kit as complex as it is just to be able to quantify the flows and pressures so that I have an informed opinion on the subject.
