2001 24 valve mods

I have a stock 2001 24 valve and was looking to finally do some basic performance upgrades ie intake, exhaust and module. I live in California and know the emission laws for diesels has changed as I had to "smog" it (what a fricken joke!) recently for the first time since I bought it in '01. Are any or all of the mods gonna be legal with the new standards ?? Also any suggestions as to what brand of mods will be appreciated, I don't want to go too crazy, just wanna give the truck some more oomph when towing my boat.

Sadly I fear the rest of the country will be following California's standard. Basically you can't even fart outside without as filter. Whatever you decide to put on make sure you can turn off for the next check.

I would use an edge comp box, its cheap and works decently. The 275RV's aren't to smokey and add around 40rwhp. The smarty, really don't give you any power increase. You'll need to improve the fuel system to use the edge comp box. There are a few other boxes that are more money, that make about the same amount of power. With the edge/RV275 you'll be around 350rwhp/750ft*lbs, way more than a new truck.

You running an auto or stick?

To mike : it's an auto that I just had rebuilt with heavy duty clutch packs and a billet torque cover. I was considering either the Banks big hoss tuner or the edge ez and a afe or aem or airaid intake. I don't need to go too wild, only towing a 21 foot boat. My main question is regarding the new CA. emission laws and if I'm gonna have to put the stock stuff back on the next "smog" check...

A Smarty and mild injectors would be the way I'd go. For injectors, either the 275s or Mach 1s.
