12V pump turn up Q's
12V pump turn up Q's
Does anyone know how to safely turn up the power via the injection pump? If anyone does I'd really appreciate them telling me or pointing me in the right direction. I plan on going to TST in the future, but I can't afford it right now. So I'd like to do a little tweaking at home. Also, I really want it to blow the black smoke! lol, anything I can do to make it smoke more via the pump? Thanks in advance everyone!!

Kyle

Yeah ... you can get a little more smoke turning up the starwheel ... but you can also get a little FREE HP by sliding your plate and AFC housing forward (mark the stock location of the plate) ... BUT ---- DON'T DO THIS UNTIL YOU PUT AT MINIMUM - BOOST AND PYRO GAUGES IN. When sliding the plate forward you EGT's can quickly get out of hand.
Well I turned the starwheel I think today. Took out the 8mm plug on top of the injection pump(under the dipstick tube), and turned the little wheel towards the engine (up) until it wouldn't turn anymore. Not sure if it made any difference or not, doesn't smoke any more than it did, which is not much, lol. Did I turn the right wheel?!? I hope so :
. Please help guys, I want her to smoke!! BTW, called TST today, $400 for injectors that add 100 HP and 200 Lb Ft. But anyways, please tell me if I did the right thing with the starwheel (I assume thats what I turned ???). When I turned the little wheel it moved to the left until you could barely see it, does that sound right? Thanks guys, I appreciate it!!

Kyle

Re:12V pump turn up Q's
You got the wheel right, now you need to take that whole housing off & slide your plate forward. Or you can get a better one (plate) from one of the vendors for about $230. Go for a #5 or 4, or skip it all and try a #0 for max fuel(that a plate can do). If you want smoke the 370 injectors are good for a power boost and lots-o-smoke. Then you may have to get a #10 or 11 plate to cut that smoke back....Talk to your favorite vendor with your $$$ limit and smoke idea so they can set you with the combo.

your egts will not get out of hand until bigger injectors or really a governor spring kit is installed. i have essentially a #0 plate (or no plate) and my egts rarely hit 1180* (on a 95+ day). i have a "gutted" AFC and with the #0 plate i get a lot of smoke down low!

Heheh, yea i'd say a new clutch will be needed after these power goodies! I can't wait to get the injectors, its gonna be great. I'd say my next upgrade will be boost and pyro gauges with the injectors. But for now, I have to get to work on my 4wheeler which is torn apart in the garage, lol. Thanks guys.

Kyle
Re:12V pump turn up Q's
with 370's you will definately! need guages. you'll have to put in an aftermarket filter and plug off the wastegate to your turbo (or at least restrict it so you only see around 35psi max--at peak efficiency of the turbo). be very easy on the clutch, you'll burn it up real quick. and yes, i have never talked to peter of SBC, but after the many many stories, he is the one to go to. when in doubt, smoke 'em out! 8)
