12V Pac Brake ??

For those running a Pac Brake on their 12 valve and possibly towing a large fifth wheel, I have the following question.
Does the exhaust brake slow your truck adequately either when empty, towing either on the freeway or in the hills? I have the 60# plug installed in the brake and 60# exhaust springs installed.

My best friends 2001 manual shift slows considerably when the Pac Brake is activated. I have driven both trucks while towing identical 5er's (not at the same time ) Could it just be a difference with 12V vs 24V?
Mine does not.

Thanks,
Don

Is your TC locking up when the brake is on? Sounds like it may not be locking.

His sig says he has an NV4500 so I don't think he will have any TC issues...

My Pacbrake slows my truck abruptly when used empty. Make sure your actuator is adjusted properly and allowing full travel of the butterfly valve. Your truck with the 60 lb exhaust valve springs should stop just as hard as the 24v assuming both Pacbrakes are using the same valve with the pressure relief hole in them. I have heard some guys plug the hole with a small machine screw to get a noticable increase in exhaust pressure but I'm not sure how hard this is on the valve springs.

Thank you.

I will check the adjustment this weekend. It has acted like this since new.

I don't think its so much the springs you need to worry about but if you have too much back pressure the valves and the pistons trying to occupy the same space. that never turns out very good. lol
