Re:12 valve upgrades

Merrick, the intake will be stock for about another week. Then I will be putting in a BHAF.

The exhaust is stock as the truck is only 4 days old. I want to cut off the resignator and muffler but the wife doesnt want the noise.

So the tranny will be fine if I rebuild it with a different valve body and torque convertor? What do I do if I want to go bigger and badder?

Truck has 76k on it.

Does it really need gauges with a #6 plate? Granted I have gauges on my truck but with the #6 plate will it need gauges?

Yes, you need gauges. :-

Even a totally stock truck will develop dangerous EGT's at times. Like Merrick says, the stock intake and exhaust system are restrictive enough to let the EGT's build.
Just running around town, you probably won't need to worry, but if your wife drives like mine...throttle has 2 positions, on or off!
My wife "borrowed" the truck one day. Came home with it loaded way above the rails with sod (grass-wet dirt). Man, was that heavy. It was way over max payload, and she had pulled up a 7 pct grade wide open.
Ohhh my poor little Cummins :'(

Soon they will come. That will be next. She will be gone for 2 weeks starting next and things will be done.

One question: Is there anything louder than a Cummins on the road?! A couple more dB won't hurt!

How do you adjust the timing and what do you gain by adjusting it?
