12 valve Timing kit

Hey guys. Mom asked me what id like for my HS graduation gift the other day since they hadnt really gotten me anything yet. I told her id like to have a timing kit, and she said that would be fine. So where is the cheapest, and what all do I need. I already have the DV socket. I need the dial indicator, the holder for it that fits onto the pump, the gear puller, and is it mandatory that I have a barring tool, or not? is there anothet way to do it that isnt too hard? Also, how much is the barring tool? There is a machine shop in town that makes and sells it all but the socket, and barring tool. I think it was $170 for the gear puller, and dial indicator, and holder so i might just get the stuff from him. Thanks for any help on where to get this stuff and prices.

Eric

The only places IIRC that i know selling kits is Miller SPX , you have to call them , or snap on sells a kit.

The snap on kit does not come with the barring tool, and yes you need it. Cheapest place i found to get a barring tool was straight from cummins.

Thanks for the links. That guy in Danville KY is the guy i was talking about that makes them thats close to me. My buddy has just told me he is wanting a timing kit too and he has done quite a bit of business with this guy before so we may be able to get a deal on them Im ready to get it. I think im gonna bump mine up to about 18*.

Snap-on online sells the stuff individually. I had to order a dial indicator holder.

I'm in the same boat rounding up timing tools...

stay away from that ebay seller. cummins is $33

snap-on is $33 for adapter. if you already have a dial indicator. $39 for puller. cheapest I've found PV socket is $30

$210 for entire kit.

I'll buy your socket if you end up getting entire kit.
