Try a Valet Switch. You can make your own for pretty cheap; you will just have to do it under the hood. You could at least do it like this until you decided you liked it. Mine still pulls decent with the valet on. It will still pull decent out of 1200rpm's, it just doesent smoke as much and is much easier on my tranny. I like mine overall. The governor arm doesent ride the plate at all with a Valet, so the plate wont make the first bit of difference.

granted I don't tow heavy very often....but my whole road system is less than 40 miles....which means ALOT of stop and go. I routinely get 16 mpg with the build as you see in the sig.....but I roll into the throttle all the time too to keep the smoke down. No AFC is nice when you're grabbing gears for quicker spool and instant power, but it has to be "driven", or it can get smokey. Smoke equals horsepower and mileage out the pipe....generally.
