02 Wastegate modification

My 02 has the solid wastegate tube that can't use the brass elbow that came with my Edge. I've been told it can be modified with a j hook? Does anybody know how to do this?
Thanks,
Tim

Re:02 Wastegate modification

You use a "fence tension adjusted" Two hooks and a barrel in the middle. Should also have lock nuts on each of the barrel. Hook both ends and tighten up the barrel, then tighten lock nuts.

Someone is sure to have a pic and better instructions!

Dave

Re:02 Wastegate modification

I would love to see a photo of this mod. My wastegate opens at 19 lbs of boost and I am figuring that I need at least 32 lbs of boost at my estimated HP. I really can't afford the $1,100 for the complete change to PDR HX-35.

Re:02 Wastegate modification

Another idea to consider is the Turbo-Master mod. It's supposed to give another 8psi or so over the elbow. Check their website to see if one is available for hard lined turbos.

http://www.turbo-master.com/

Re:02 Wastegate modification

The turbomaster link is sweet and fully adjustable but it only fits manual trans for 01-02 not autos

Re:02 Wastegate modification

My understanding is that you should have 1# of boost for every 10 HP that you have. I can't remember where I read that. I appreciate you telling me that I would be blowing hot air. I'm fairly new to this but the torque and HP increases are incredibly fun. ;D ;D

Just talked to Bill @ Turbomaster. He says their 24A for 2001 + up automatics will be on sale @ their site in about 2 weeks.
Seems worth the wait.
Tim

Re:02 Wastegate modification

I have to agree on the 2 week wait on the Turbo-Master. I have several out for testing and they do indeed look very promising.

The ease of adjustment and the solid built design are all top notch american made quality!.

I will be posting an article showing the easy installation procedure and adjustment shortly.

My honest opinion is this thing is worth every penney and the solid adjustment it allows for the boost can't be beat!

Thanks for all the info. I will order from turbo master as soon as it is available. How many #'s of boost maximum should be set on the HY-35? ??? ??? ???
