XM or Sirius
XM or Sirius
I know they have merged, well more than likely will be merging, but whats everyone's preference? I had sirius in the vehicle I had before I bought the ole cummins, so I am leaning towards Sirius. But yesterday, I was listening to my buddies XM and it didnt seem too bad. My aftermarket cd player is setup for XM, thats why I cant decide.
If your aftermarket CD player is setup for XM, I would go with XM. There are some differences in programming now, but I would imagine that within the next year they will be the same. Depending on where you live, you may find that one has a better signal than the other. I believe subscription rates are the same for either company, so that shouldn't make much difference. I personally have XM and like it very well.
O&A Part Rock!!! XM here and I am not sure that if the merger goes through that the b-b-boys will make it and be able to coexist with Howie, so I may have neither if that happens

Depends what you like. If you like terrible rock programming, terrible comedy programming, and playlists that sound like they're run by a computer, get XM.
Things I like about Sirius:
channel 17: all jambands, all day (Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead)
channel 31: Jimmy Buffett HAS HIS OWN CHANNEL
channel 104: uncensored comedy (not safe for DTR)
rock programming is superior, everything from early classic rock to death metal, blows XM out of the water.
trucker channel is nice too, and Cam & Company (NRA) airs on the conservative talk channel.

I like sirius more. The country stations and rock stations and comedy stations are way better than XM. I used to have XM and found myself listening to the radio more than it because it was horrible music. Got sirius and I listen to that more now than I do regular radio. Also had a lot of XM's equipment fail on me and the parts I needed seemed to always be on back order. Probably just an isolated incidence with my luck. No problems outta sirius's stuff.

And check out 103 the redneck comedy channel. Just as good as 104, maybe better.
And I have heard that the xm music channels even have comercials as compared to Sirius. On Sirius the music channels do not have comercials. And you can listen to Sirius on your radio, your tv (if you have Dishnetwork), and on line.
For me. I can listen on the 'puter, in the truck, in my work truck, at home, in the TT, the Sportster I have will broad cast a signal (if I remember to get it out of the work truck) and the sportster will even go into a ghetto blaster if you want to take it pik-niking with you.
Thanks for all then input guys. Im still leaning towards sirius, cant decide of I want to buy a new cd deck and get the "brain" that hides under your seat or just get one of those portable deals and mount it to the truck somewhere. Where have you guys mounted the portable one's. I have a 5 speed with a cb radio mounted to the passenger side of the gear console, so I cant figure out where to put it.
