XM radio thoughts

Who has it and what is good or bad about it?
I stopped at the local stereo store today and looked at a Pioneer XM unit. The store dude told me that a lot of the stations or programs still have commercials on them.
To be sure, I'm not going to pay that kind of money for a unit and a monthly fee on top of that and listen to commercials. I can get that crap on the FM dial right now.

Re:XM radio thoughts

Sirius and XM are the big providers, maybe the only ones.

One service has a "few" commercials to help defray the cost, and therefore is less per month than the other one.
It is quite a bit less commercials than your standard FM radio station.

I can't remember which service is which.

The ability to still listen to the radio, even the same station, out in the boonies makes it worthwile to some.

And I don't have a unit, just going on what I've heard.

Personally, if I'm too far away to get a good station, that is what my CD player is for, or I just enjoy the sounds of nature.

Here's some links to the above mentioned services.

http://www.sirius.com
http://www.xmradio.com/

phox
Re:XM radio thoughts

I was thinking the same DD, then heard about the trees, Tunnels, and even driving in hilly or mountain areas causing the loss of signal.
Then remembering that Cable TV used to be only $10 a month too...........now around $60. :
FM and CDs don't sound so bad now...... ;D
