I was driving through Pennsylvania - I even remember the date and time, Jan. 10th 1994 at about 12:30 pm - and I hit some black ice. The Toyota Tacoma (not really a Tacoma, it was before those trucks got the name) spun so fast I didn't know which way I was going, and hit the guard rail as it comes up out of the ground. I believe it was the front end that was lifted while the back end went down the embankment. Apparently, that set me up to do cart-wheels down the side of the mountain, because I counted six places where the truck touched the ground. Three of which, I found pieces of the front body parts and engine parts near by. I then barrel rolled it for a number of times before coming to a rest against a tree.

I walked away with only minor injuries.

The state trooper that was first on scene wrote me a ticket for speeding. I said I wasn't speeding - I was doing maybe 50 due to the weather conditions. He said that I had to be, due to the distance I traveled when I left the roadway.

Now, to top it off, 13 years later... to the date... I slipped on some ice in my driveway and broke my arm.

I have had numerous accadents. The worst one was in a buddy of mines truck when i was riding in back. We were leaving a party one night and he bent over to have the passanger light his cig when we drove almost straight off a corner on the road. My buddy looked up at the last second and attempted to turn but it was alredy too late. We drove off the road and hit an intersecting road sending the truck airborne. We jumped a distance of about 35-40 feet and around 10-15 feet off of the bottem of the ditch. Landed nose first kinda on the left side and then bounced again before being stopped by a huge tree. When i woke up i couldnt talk right and had a major concussion. I had bitten through my bottem lip with my teeth and my lip got stuck between my teeth. After i pulled my lip out of my teeth i had a one inch long gapeing hole. I also had a broken nose and a huge cut on the side of my head from breaking a rear window using my left ear. The driver broke his nose again and the passenger shattered the windsheild and dislocated his shoulder. None of us went to the hostpital because we were all underage and didnt have insurance plus the driver didnt have a license. I just super glued my lip together and helped relocate the other guys shoulder. We went back a few days later and looked at the scene of the crime. The stop sign was folded over on the very top edge with a rubber tread mark on it.

Wow, these pictures amaze me at what people are able to walk away from. I've been fortunate to this point to never have been in an accident. I was in a rollover as an infant, but other than that it's been a smooth ride for me. I've done some crazy stuff behind the wheel, too. Skill coupled with some luck can take you a long way.

It's good to hear that all have been able to recover from these accidents. Some of them have really had the potential to be quite gruesome.

I have been in a few rollovers..... 1 time I had to run 3/4 mile to get help for my cousin. I got to the farm house told the lady help was needed and then passed out. I had to get 30 some stitches in my head.

I had a wreck last night and didn't even know it until a trooper knocked on the door then showed me the white paint on the horseshoe tiedown welded on my flatbed . No injuries, Just a ford f-150 with a blue crease in the pass. fender. I never even felt it.

Here's mine

My wife and I were on our way to the honeymoon when it happened. I have some cool scars, but no lasting problems. Definitly not my time to go.

Mercedes 300D @ +- 128 MPH in a lefthand curve with no banking add into the mix a S10 with a retro fitted 350 on the outside one tap from his front bumper to my rear and presto I +- 128 MPH in reverse looking at him looking at me. landed safely between two pine trees large enough that I could not open any of the four doors wound up climbing out thru the sun roof

One hell of a ride that i wish not to try again.

Heres My first and hopefully last!
The truck in the avatar is the one before the wreck. I am working on getting the crash pictures in the gallery.
Anyhow, I was on a back road (which I somewhat was familiar with) and took a sharp turn to the left, the rear hit Ice and sent me swerving to the left, I corrected it for the most part when the front right tire hit the hill side by the road, and jacked me on the hill side where it rolled on the drivers side.
I wish I was wearing a seat belt but OOPS.
Had the girl friend in the vehicle in front of me, she said all she saw was headlights, marker lights, head lights, marker lights, headlights, then the marker lights on top the truck.

My arm was somewhat rested on the door with the window down (breathing issues), truck rolled over on my arm, pinned it . And I broke some of the trim that holds the head liner up, with my head from where I was bouncing around.
Told the girlfriend to get the crowbar out and lift the truck somewhat (did not Work) so I dug myself out .
Ripped the sleeve off of a Carheart jacket, Tore the flannel shirt, Ripped the sleeve off the T- shirt. NOT A SINGLE SCRATCH ON ME!
Tipped it back over, put oil in it, fired it up and drove home that night.
No cops, or insurance involved. Just massive headaches, and numb fingers on occasion.
My Accident Not bad, but not complaining
Wheelo

74 dart ---

74dart,

I was traveling southbound and hit a northbound semi. He actually ended up worse off than me. The Dodge rocks for safety.

If I had totaled my dads 2 month old truck I would not have walked away without a scratch. He would have made sure of that.

My '73 Dart was my favorite car. It had a slant 6 with 3 speed on the column, and it wouldn't die. It would go through everything. It got banged up a lot by going off road with the 4x4 trucks, but I kept up. I tried to blow the engine by getting on the interstate while still in 1st gear - it got to 60 mph and wouldn't go any faster, but it kept going until I got tired of listening to the noise (no muffler - left it on a trail somewhere).

The only thing that finally did it in was rust. The rear shackles rusted through the trunk, and I put 2x6 boards in place to hold it up. It had no floor boards except for plywood. And then one day, I guess I hit a bump too hard, and it broke in half. The only thing keeping it together was the roof.

Those were the good ol' days. The things you do when you are a kid in high school...
