I can't find the pics, but 3 years ago I had a pretty good one. I was T-boned by an F650 Ford, while driving my Crown Vic patrol car. To say the Crown Vic was totaled is an understatement, the frame was taco'ed, the body mounts were torn from the frame, the roof and floor buckled, every window was blown out, and the passenger side seat was crushed to about 8 inches wide. I was extremly fortunate that he hit me on the passenger side.

Little bit, not too bad though considering the damage to the car.

My worst so far. Totaled the car cause the A-pillar was bent and would have cost more to fix than the car was worth. Thus I ended up getting my truck. Walked away without a scratch although I shouldn't have. Just reminds you how short life is sometimes...

This is what I hit

Do airplanes count?

Our Cessna 205 N8204Z was totaled when the nose gear failed on landing at a Washington State Airport. The aircraft upset, landed dirty side up, pointy end back. We all, wife and 4 kids walked away without a scratch.
Someone rebuilt the plane up in Alaska, a neice took a pix of it. Patched up to get it flying. Then it went to Montana, really fixed up nice and looked great last time I looked on the web. If I ever find the pix I'll scan them in and post.

Yes. I was the lone occupant of the truck. The factory receiver hitch failed while pulling a tandem axle trailer with a Jeep on it at 60mph. The trailer swayed out of control and jackknifed, pushing the truck off the road, through a guard rail, and down a steel embankment at over 50mph. The truck came to a rest on the driver's side and I was able to crawl out of the passenger side door and walk away, requiring nothing more than 3 stitches in 1 finger. Debris from the wreckage also caused 5 motorcyclists behind me to crash as well.

I had wanted my daughter, 9 years old at the time, to accompany me on that trip but she decided not to at the last minute. Thank God for that.

I had already been a believer in seat belts prior to this. Now I am a believer in air bags as well.

last summer we were waiting for the highway to clear so we could turn left into johnson creek campground in B.C. just as i started my turn we where rearended by a guy doing 130klms , we were justs starting our turn so we where maybe 5klms per hour , i saw my speedo jump to 80klms and the trailer went about 4feet in the air , then we 2wheeled ( truck & trailer both) around that corner , i could see the trailer , and my truck rear tire in my side mirrior almost 3 feet off the ground, i hard cranked ir right to get things level again, and ditched my truck taering the front bumper apart too.no air bags, my kids are fine, but my wife has really bad whip lash, she was fully turned around giving my 2year old a bottle when we were hit. i wanted a newer, bigger trailer just not under these conditions. the total damage to the trailer was 47k, and my truck had 11k in damage. the weirdest part was though we were in a pullout/turnout lane, he had a strait though lane for pass around so this wouldn't happen. when i got out i asked him what he was doing?? didn't you see my lights?/ he said yea but i was coming up too fast on you, why didnt you use the flow throuhg ?? he said he drive this way all the time, must been habit. my wreck isn't nearly as bad as any posted , but still scary just the same . the pass side frame rail of my fiver was pushed 2" ahead of the other, the outrigers to support the floor were buckeled bowing the whole floor, the slides buckled to the point of not operating , just binding, the 5vr hitch had a 2"' twist, just everything was bent, all the fylon was cracked,my hitch was twisted and one of the rails had almost pulled off the bed, i'm so thankfull we didn't roll.

I was pulling a tandem trailer loaded with about 10k of rafts with a ford on a four laner. Front axle mount on the trailer broke at 60mph, truck started to fish tail real hard try controling it but lost it after about 150 yards. Bounced off the guard rail which shot me left head on into the k rail barriers, hitch broke sending thr trailer under the truck flipping me over I rolled up on to the 4 foot k rails rolled a few times on them befor coming back down in my lanes to roll more. Truck rolled 7 times and spun around 180* landed on passanger side. When i hit the barrier head on i was thrown to the passenger floor (which saved my life) from rolling on the k rails the roof was crushed flat to the seat and pushing into the seat about 4 inches. The steering wheel was driven threw the seat where my legs would of been if i had a seat belt on. I climbed out the passenger door side barely because the pass door got ripped off. Only injury was cut my arm climbing out very minor, twisted my anke when i jumped the guard rail because last thing i saw befor i hit the floor was an 18 wheeler coming at me. I was sore as heck the next week but still here.

So why is it with all of the concern over safty on today's market, you don't see cars come stock with roll cages and five-point harnesses?

Give me the option between 37 airbags and a roll cage, I'll take the roll cage. You don't see NASCAR drivers walking away from 7 car pile-ups at 200 MPH thanks to air bags...

Wow. I can't believe I'm saying this. I fully agree with Begle1! Id rather have a full cage and 5-pt harness than a 3-pt and a billion airbags...
