Words: Be careful what you say
Here are some examples of words not saying exactly what was intended. These were compiled in an article in our local paper a few years ago and I enjoyed them so much that I saved them. I hope you enjoy them as well.<br><br> A police chief of a Texas city stated: "The vice situation here is the best we have had in a long time."<br><br>Another source says "Our policemen are fully able to compete with all the criminals in town." <br> <br>From a church "Our choir participated in a radio program in New Orleans. It was good to hear them and realize that they were over five hundred miles away." <br> <br>"Watch out for the chili supper at the Methodist Church."<br><br>A newspaper reports "This is Miss ........'s first appearence in Dallas in twenty years and everyone should be happy."<br><br>A roofing company ad says "Leaks Guaranteed"<br><br>A department store ad for men's suits states "Won't last an hour"<br><br>Auto repair shop promises to do a "Bang-Up Job"<br><br>Auto service business offers a "Complete grease job, including floor mats and seat covers."<br><br>Another auto shop ad says "No matter how small your problem is, you can count on our mechanics to do a major job."<br><br>An auto dealer invites you to visit him and "see how little you need to own a new car."<br><br>A friendly loan company asks, "Why go elsewhere to be cheated? You can depend on us to do the job."<br><br>Here's one I saw myself last winter. An ad for a boat for sale stated " Won't last until spring."<br><br>Dan<br>
