careful what you shoot at....

I received this in an email

Apparently it is a steel target 100 yards away.
You can hear the shot, the clang as it hits the steel target, the whine as the bullet tumbles through the air and the puff of dirt as the bullet hits the ground 20 or so feet in front of the shooter...

edit: the rifle is a .50cal

i wonder if this is a fake video. it sure looks real. but ive shot a .50 cal barett at 2 inch steel plate @ 100 yards and it went through it like it was wet paper. also i would think a 750 grain bullet moving at that velocity would take your head off. in the video it liiks to me like it caught him pretty good. but who knows just my .02

I was kinda wondering what round he was using and what he shot at to have it do that, maybe one of those made in "south america" rounds.

I have shot a few diffrent 50 cal's with diffrent ammo and never even heard of a ric like that, weird.

Maybe it was a rock that got flung bask of something.

I think you just made my whole point behind posting the video. Had someone told me this was possible I would't have believed them.

The thing is, we don't know what they were shooting at (target wise. could be steel plate, an old car, or old machinery) or what came back at them. I,m ASSUMING it was the bullet but it really could be a piece of steel from the target, a rock, etc.
It looked to me like it clipped his left earmuff and pulled his hearing protection off his head, a glancing blow at best. Had it caught him in the forehead....

Reminds me of when I was a teenager. A buddy and I were shooting SKS's and we were just shooting random stuff ( about 100 to 150 yards away) in the woods and a ricochet went by my ear just a whistling and I thank God for everyday I have lived since then. O my, the many chances that I have had makes me think I am part cat and the lives are a running out.
