Won a new rifle!!!

Couldn't believe it, but I won a 'Friends of the NRA' edition Savage .17 BVSS last night. Usually all I win is the pleasure of donating my money. So now I have so spend some money I don't have to get a scope so I can shoot it. Then I have to find a groundhog or coyote to kill. Several people said they wouldn't shoot it, its a limited edition gun. So what do you guys think, shoot it or save it for, well, I don't know, later for some reason?

SHOOT it!! Most banquet guns actually go down in value, and that's not a high end gun anyway. Take it out and have some fun with it.--Matt

As far as scopes, Check out the BSA Sweet 17. Cheap scope I know, but I have been having good luck with mine. It has a calibrated dial for elevation adjustment from 100-300 yds. I have shot mine at every 25 yds out to 275 so far and the calibration is pretty accurate. So you just range the target, set the distance, adjust the parralax for that distance and hold dead on!

The 17 hates wind though! Fun gun, happy shooting.

Congrats and heck yeah, shoot it! Savage's aren't sought by most collectors anyway. Savage's are accurate tools that need to be used!

Good for you. My anti gun sister got roped into going to a Friends of the Rocky Mountian Elks something or other dinner with my 86 year old Mom. My Mom is very pro gun. My Mom bought some raffle tickets and my sister won a Marlin 336 3030. I was so proud of her owning a firearm. And even happier when she gave it to me.

shoot it. I also like the BSA scope for the .17 fairly good optics for the price and you can order extra sunshades if you need them. The .17 is super fun little gun.

The Savage .17s are great little shooters, I have a heavy barrel version with a Zebra wood thumbhole stock....very accurate rifle out to 300yds. At 75 yds I think the target actually moves before you can hear the report fast bullet

Congrats. I have a box of .17 HM2 that someone gave me. Now I need to build a rifle for it.
