Winter Tires and Wheels for Jeep Compass?

My wife has a new Jeep Compass and it has the upgraded 18" polished aluminum wheels. We want to get a set of winter wheels and winter tires for it.
Does anyone know what offset or bolt pattern will fit? Would prefer to stay with 18" is possible. Steel wheels maybe. I am going to check some wreckers for some tomorrow but might buy a set of steel wheels and winter tires instead of used.

Thanks

Scotty

Looks like Liberty wheels are your only option if you want to stick with an OEM 18". If you were open to going smaller, Wrangle(TJ) Moab style wheels up to '06 are 16" but look nice and have slightly less backspacing than most of the current wheel. Check the classifieds at jeepforum.com. High turn over on a lot of jeep OEM wheels so guys can put on aftermarket with their lifts. I got new JK Moabs with new tires for my Grand off craigslist as well.

Thanks for that info! If I get 18" wheels I will have a hard time finding good winter tires for a decent price.
I also read that if I go to 16" I need to change out the sensors for the TIPM thing, correct? Do I need to recalibrate for the change in the tire/wheel size too? Too much monitoring on these newer rigs

You can match outside diameter to maintain gearing despite what rim you go with. What size do you run now? Example, I'm running 255 70R17" now, if I kept 16" I could go with 265 75R16 for a close outside diameter. Both would be considered 32's, actually 31.5"ish...
