Windows 7 disk partitioning problem

Last week I bought a new computer that is running 64 but windows 7. I downloaded a copy of Linus Fedora 13 64 bit that I have been trying to load for a week with no success. The problem I am having is with the partitioning of the drive. I tried using the shrink volume option in the control panel and partition wizard. Both have created my 40 gig partition but when I try to install Linux it tells me I do not have enough disk space. I tried by creating a simple volume with windows which converted my entire disk to a dynamic disk. I wiped the hard drive and started again. I decided to use the disk partitioning feature in the Linux installation disk and that did not work. So no I tried to create a new drive on the unallocated space using the partition wizard software and it tells me that there are no free MBR slots on the disk. So now how do I modify the MBR. For some reason I believe that Microsoft done this on purpose. Can anybody help me.

that much trouble why not just add a second physical drive, and when you want to play in linux, switch the boot priority in bios on startup ?

Shouldn't have to but I wouldn't doubt if the wonderful folks at Microsoft didn't do something to make it difficult to make it happen......they hate competition. Always have!!!

I have thought about that as I have a 1 tb external drive, and my drive from my xp box that I can use with a usb to ide cable. It looks like that is going to be the best option.
