Customer: You're giving credit to illegal immigrants and I don't think it's right. I'm taking my business elsewhere.

The Bank: Well, Mr. Customer, we don't want to see you do that, but we can't stop you. I'll help you close the account. What is your account number?

Customer: (gives account number)

The Bank: For security purposes and for your protection, can you please give me the last four digits of your social security number?

Customer: No?

The Bank: Mr. Customer, I need to verify your information, but in order to help you, I'll need verification of who you are..

Customer: Why should I give you my social security number? The reason I'm closing my account is that your bank is issuing credit cards to illegal immigrants who don't have social security numbers. You are targeting that audience and want their business. Let's say I'm an illegal immigrant and you've given me a credit card. I have a question about it and call for assistance. You wouldn't be asking me for a Social Security number, would you?

The Bank: No sir, I wouldn't.

Customer: Why not?

The Bank: Because you would have pressed '2' to speak in Spanish. We don't ask for that information when calling in on the Spanish line.

If it does raise the hair on the back of your neck, then forward it to every human in the country including every representative in Washington , DC four times a week for a month.

 

That dont raise the hair on the back of my neck. If they want to give their business to illegal immagrants, that is their choice.

BoA credit card to illegals

 

May be an old email but that fact remains the same....they give credit to folks here illegally and without a social and or I.D.
That's the biggest reason why I'll never bank at BOA.
I don't do business with folks who knowingly do business with cheaters!!!
I don't buy goods from strangers selling (stolen goods)from the trunk of their car, I don't hire illegals, and I don't do business with those who do.
I'm kind of funny that way!!!

 

BoA has not been accused of giving anything to illegals. You have to have a SSN or a ITIN to get a credit card. If those numbers are fraudulently gotten why hold BoA over the fire? What would you say if you turn in an application for a card or some other type of credit and they told you that you had to prove the number you wrote down on the application was a valid number issues to you. I bet you would be upset.

Funny you should ask that......I'm building a new home and to get the interim I had to prove where the deposits in my checking and savings account came from. I first had to show them my w2s and give them access to my bank account.
They called to ask about several large deposits. Turns out they were my expenses (usually 3 months at a time, I don't do my expenses monthly) , loan payments from the company back to my savings (I loaned my own company start up funds from savings), owner draws and a couple of bonuses that I and the wife got from her employer.
I asked them why they wanted to know that much about my personal business and the guy said that he is required to ask such things......They want to make sure the money was obtained.........wait for it.............LEGALLY"!!!

The illegals can get a credit card and pay down that credit card with funds that they obtained illegally (coming here and working here illegally equates to illegally obtained funds) yet I (an American born citizen) have to prove that all my funds are legit.
Please don't try to tell me that they are not giving credit cards to illegals. It was all over they news a couple of yrs back when the illegal immigration issue was being thrust at President Bush. It was then that BOA publicly made it policy to give credit cards to illegals. Their spokes person said that things were hard enough for these poor people and they felt compelled to make things easier for them.

 

Unfortunately he posted no facts......or very little facts.

As for your own hoops you had to jump through. Go in there next time and tell them you are an illegal immigrant and see if they still require the checks. You already know the answer but then again it ruins a perfectly good rant.

 

Well buying/building a home is definitely different from getting a credit card but the fact still remains that BOA openly admitted on national news (Don't need SNOPES, saw and heard it with my own eyes and ears) that they were in fact awarding "illegals" with credit cards. The question was asked if it was fair to allow illegals to get a CC without a SS card yet an American Citizen could not. It was in that questioning that the spokes person said that it was only fair to help these poor folks get by in this country. Never really answered the fairness issue.
For the record Snopes has slowly become a bastion of misinformation in recent yrs.
There once was a time that you could count on the info found there. Now none of it should be trusted unless it can be verified through multiple sources.

 

The only reason banks are doing business with illegals is they know that they would get bail out packages from tax payers money when they go down. Thus they will be compensated for losses on this account from legal citizens tax money. Or they must know something the public doesn't, amnesty for all illegals in this country could be coming. Millions of illegals with BoA credit cards, think of the profits that would bring BoA. Either way it is a win win for BoA credit.

 

Again more guesses without basis. The cards, which by the way are no longer offered were secured cards. Nothing to default on.

when not paid w/in 90 days they (accrued interest, annual and late fees) have to be charged back to income thus lowering earnings

it's pretty easy to see a $1,000 secured credit card secured with a $1,000 deposit have a $1,500 or greater balance at the time of set-off and charge back so the income loss could easily average $500 per account

 

Either way they were/are offering cards to folks who broke the law to get here and are breaking the law to work here. Giving, loaning, selling, or leasing the cards is just another way to give them a sense of legitimacy.
They should get nothing in any way that would make their being here any easier.

First thing is this country runs on money. Period. Anything that can be done and gotten away with, will be done by banks, builders, restaurants, drug dealers or any other money making operation. That's just the way it is. I would never be talked down to, or raked over the coals by a bank I wanted to get a loan from and I don't know why you would either. Tell them to shove it and close your account!

It will never get hard enough for illegals that they don't come here, until they are not hired anymore. But they are being hired by the millions. And they, for the most part, do an excellent job and make the businesses that hired them money. You are fighting a losing battle, and only kidding yourself, if you think they'll stop coming simply because it is against our laws. Businesses want the cheap and reliable labor. They are not trying to legally immigrate, they, mostly, want to work and support their families. It has nothing to do with "respect" for our laws. It's about opportunity. And if the bank can make some money off them, then bank will do business with them. Simple. If you allow the bank to treat you like a suspect, they will. Again, simple. Ever since 911 it's been getting harder and harder to open bank accounts, get mailing addresses, driver's licences, passports and green cards. Welcome to the new age. Our immigration system is an ugly quagmire. It's so broken and convoluted that it can barely work at all, even for folks trying to do the right thing and come here with stars in their eyes looking for a new life. And you ain't seen nuthin' yet. Wait till the drug related violence spills over, full force into this country from Mexico where many thousands are being killed in cartel related violence over money from the US for drugs. Or some whacko manages to set off a bomb here.

Your argument is with our system that allows illegal immigrants to be openly employed, and with your bank that is tracking YOUR money as if you were a criminal. And if you blame Obama for the present situation, you again, are just kidding yourself. This has been going on for a long, long time and very few people or politicians want to upset the apple cart. There's money being made and votes being courted.

Build your home without a loan from a bank. Make it clear that you'll be voting for someone willing to shut down employment of illegals or close the border. Get on with your life and try to sort out who to really be mad at. Winning the game is about finding ways to make the system work for you instead of just being mad. Since you're a smart, skilled, American citizen, you have a lot of opportunity here. America is tolerant of a lot of things, but in the end it's about competition. Free enterprise. Work. Doing things better than the next guy in order to get ahead. It's not easy, but that's the way it is. While you spend energy being mad at the bogeyman, others are spending their energy making money. And mony talks.
