why does new concrete chirp when wet?
got new house, been washing driveway late at night, when done playing.
sounds like crickets or bugs chirping when get it wet.
???
it's hot out, and i put cool water on it, but think i ever heard that on old concrete, but it was poured in july last year.
??

alot of people dont know this, but on fresh concrete (withing 18 months of pour) if you wash it down late at night you can pick up the earths vibrations, what this phenomenon is is a small earthquake caused by water hitting the concrete, it creates sounds similar to crickets. VERY rare to be able to hear it tho, consider yourself lucky
if i were you i would make a tape of it and offer it on E-bay

see now, it happened once, and it kind of threw me off.
wanted to post then, but figured would catch all this flak...
so waited till happened again...
i'll see if i can borrow a digi-cam with sound and record it.

Hoss thought it was his rear wheels chirping. He was so proud of al of the power he had...
Even after 6 years when I wash my driveway down I get a sizzling noise. You can see small bubbles coming up through the concrete

When concrete cures it releases gasses. I HAVE heard slight whistling sounds coming from concrete that was fairly fresh and soaked down. As far as the earthquakes ... well maybe it's from kim jong il eating too much kim chee????????
