California, New Jersey, and Illinois should all be next to each other. Then we could push them off into the ocean and they could be there own little anti-gun country!

Just for the record it is not impossible to get a CCW in California; Robert Blake had one, after all...

I think that there is something about having to be able to shoot with your off hand, though...

There are only 4 states that do not allow CCW. Kansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Illinois. The rest allow it in some form.

Unfortuneately, several states are not "Shall Issue" states. this means they can turn you down for no reason. My state (OK) is a Shall issue state, they have to have a reason (Felony, assault, spousal abuse, stalking, and it seems like there is another) to deny my right to carry concealed.

my mistake, it's near impossible for a "law-abiding citizen" to carry a gun in california...ain't that grand? sure you can own a gun and shoot on private property, it's a well known fact that you don't mess with a farmer's house 'cause you'll get lit up by an arsenal...if you make it past the dogs. But I feel warm and fuzzy in town knowing the outlaws and cops are the only ones with guns.

HMMMM.....
I live in Wshington and as long as you have a clean record, pass the background check and can pay the fee your in. The bad thing is that if you live near the Oregon border like I do, Oregon will not recognize a Washington permit. So then the trick is finding a county thats not infested with liberals to get a nonresident permit. That would be Clatsop County. So now I'm good on either side of the river. Walk softly and carry a loaded pistol, I think it went something like that.

Remember, its better to be judged by twelve than be carried by six.

Good post Hoss. I agree with him 100%. I'm not with my wife 24/7 so I felt it was my duty to teach her how to handle and shoot a hand gun safely and effectively. I did and she took the CCW class and passed now she can protect herself and my daughter when I'm not there to protect them. If I get robbed I don't blame the police they can't be everywhere I blame myself for not being prepared and not being aware of my surroundings. I try to instill this in my wife (You can bet how that's going! ) and will in my daughter when she is old enough.

Here is a note from a cop in Australia.

Australia, gun free!!

Here's a thought to warm some of your hearts...

From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia

Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under. It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent, Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent; Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)! In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not! and criminals still possess their guns!)

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms,! this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in "successfully ridding Australian society of guns." You won't see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.

The Australian experience proves it. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note Americans, before it's too late!

BE OF THE VOCAL MINORITY WHO WON'T LET THIS HAPPEN IN THE U.S.A

Mike

Concealed carry is great, in the states that don't recognize a South Dakota permit I just put it up on the dash....no law against having a firearm in plain view.

My folks used to live across from a CHP office that closed at 1700 daily. many time we had to produce weapons to stop scumbags from beating up gals that thought they would be safe at a police station. They were sure happy to see two men drawing down on the men till the law arived.
Only had one CHP Officer flick us guff over it. and he ran un and the pistols through the computer.
