I had the exact same surgery on the left knee about 4 yrs ago. I had a quick recovery, I was on crutches the first day and walking around w/o them the next day. I do have pain in my knee now but I think its more from abuse I did to it after I had surgery.

I had my ACL repaired a couple years ago and was on crutches for 6 weeks. The first season back it hurt every time I went snowboarding (afterward), but didn't hurt the next day. This season it didn't bother me at all.
Whatever you do just make sure you don't slack on the physical therapy. The rehab is the hardest part and it can literally make or break the knee. Work through the pain and it will all be worth it in the long run!

I have been doing the excercises the doc told me to do. Straighten, lift, bend, all while sitting down. It's scary how good it feels today. Makes me think I'm completely healed when I know I'm not. I have to keep reminding myself to use the crutches, and take it easy. Almost makes me want a small amount of pain to keep me going slow.

I second the PT, I was only 18 when I had mine done. I bounced back from the surgery pretty quick but I still went to therapy and I belive it helped alot. Sometimes it didn't seem like it but it does help.
I had arthroscopic done on my knee in 1996. and now I have 2 titainium total knee replacements. No more knee pain, I can walk fine, and am a happy camper. Both were done at the Mayo clinic in Jacksonville Fla. Only down side is you are not supposed to kneel on the artificial knees.
Sorry I waited in pain for 10 years. Results are different for everyone, but don't mess with a second rate surgeon, get the best I'm 64 and overweight(due to lack of excersize) but I was walking with out a cane in 3 weeks. and I know many people who are still limping around due to a sloppy doctor.

Had mine removed at 18 now i'm 25. I race quads every weekend when i can and when i'm not racing i'm riding. No pain now but time will tell good luck with it, oh was on crutches 1 day then walking was running 8 days after, 7 minute mile.
