Got this in an email. All I can say is OMG!!!!!! I thought our local "dog lady" was bad (15 dogs living in a 14' camper trailer along with all their turds) but this is just absurd, unspeakable!
This was a lady 1 month delinquent on her rent in Houston. This is current, the lady has not come back from Ike and cannot be reached. I will never live in an apt building, no pun intended!

Yeah, my wife worked "home health" for years; that is nothing compared to what she has seen many times.
I got a kick out of the iron and board, the only clear spot in the place; maybe hoarders are also neat about their ironing.

I have reason to be in all sorts of peoples vehicles, everything from little toodle-around cars to 379 Petes; what I see a lot of is how NASTY these spoiled wives of doctors/lawyers can be with their vehicles.
These women will appear all paint powder and lipstick, and dressed to the nines, nails all perfect, and not a hair out of place, yet the inside of their brand new car would cause a pig to puke.

Looked like cigarette butts to me - they are all over the computer as well.
Like s cesnick said, it's a mental disorder. Some people who live like this are really hoarders and can't bear to throw anything away - they are genuinely sick in the head and need help. Others got behind on their housekeeping, the mess got to be overwhelming and they just gave up - that's just pathetic and I have very little sympathy for 'em. Get a shovel, rent a dumpster, and clean up your mess.
Seems like a lot of what gets excused as mental illness these days is really just a lack of willpower.
But like Bearkiller said, a lot of these folks you would never be able to tell they have this problem by looking at them. They have been able to compartmentalize their problem, kind of like a functioning alcoholic.
