What's wrong with people these days?
Well, I was taking somebody to go pick up their car just a few minutes ago. I live on a road with a 25MPH speed limit, but people feel that because its a rather long and wide road they can go 40MPH+ on it. So I was pulling out of my driveway, and I had begun leaving my driveway before he came over the crest of the hill (hence why there is a low speed limit--low visibility). I had the nose of my truck about on the yellow lines, crossing over into the right light from across the street. As soon as I saw him, I gave it a little more gas, so that even though he was doing about 40MPH, he wouldn't have to hit his brakes. But I couldn't give it too much gas because I'm on a gravel driveway, and if I do I'll just kick gravel everwhere and make almost no forward progress. So, as soon as I'm in the right lane, I get on it a bit and then he continues to roll up behind my truck, then he swerves across the double yellow lines (wish there was a cop around there), and blasts past me and cuts back in front of me right before a stop sign. So, at this point, I'm pretty ticked off to put it nicely. Ok, just keep it cool. Then I see him tell me that I'm number one. So, he goes through the 4 way stop, I let a schoolbus take its turn, then I catch up to him behind some cars a little way down the road. Thankfully, he was going the same way that I was for a while, so I was able to get behind him and seem to be following him for a bit, probably gave him a little bit of a scare. But did I gun it and blast past him? Nope. Did I return the friendly gesture? Nope. Finally he turned off, and I laid on the horn for a few seconds, then continue on my way. I wish I didn't have a passenger with me, I probably would have followed him for a good little while, to let him know that his little 1.8L Audi isn't gonna hold up to well against a 3500CTD.
It just made me so angry... Phil, thankfully you haven't rebuilt my tranny for me yet, and I don't have any BOMBs on my truck... else he (and probably more so I), would have been in trouble. Because I just can't stand inconsiderate people, and I too often return the "favor" to them.
Anyway... just a little ticked off.

I have bad road rage sometimes, tailgating is the one thing i can't stand. Especially when I'm going 5 over the speed limit already and there still riding my bumper. I can't wait until I can smoke alittle bit, tailgaters will get a nice cloud of black smoke. When I was in highschool we installed the rear windshield wiper spray so i sprayed back into tailgaters cars, lol.
I know exactly what you mean. We used to live on a small dirt road in a little town. One of the young ladies that lived about two blocks away aquired a new boyfriend. (trying to be nice here). He drove a small green S10 truck with wide tires and a loud radio. He drove it at about 40 and sometimes maybe over 60 down this small road. Thats my estimate but half the time he was sliding it sideways for several blocks so it had to be something like that. Several times I made gestures for him to slow down, and he would gladly tell me I was #1. Once I called the sherrif but it took them an hour to get there so he was gone. One day I had enough and stood in the road and made him stop. I told him I didn't care really how fast he went, but if he didn't slow it down he may find himself in a situation where he's going to have to explain to someone momma why he had to run so fast thru there and apologize for killing one of the kids that lived on this street. After that, he would then be spending time with me out in the woods with nobody else around but my two buddies, Smith and Wesson. Luckiy for him, and the rest of us, he got the message, took another route at a resonable speed.
Unfortunatley for the rest of the world, there will always be the ones who will never get the message or have any hint of a brain. I know I don't drive perfect all the time and I was 16 and stupid once too, but at least I learned how to act before I hurt anyone. But some people will never learn how to act.

I am with you, but you can't be too careful these days cause people are plain crazy and pull guns, which if they did that to me they better shoot good. way to keep your cool, i feel you frustration.
people do it around here also, usually it's the yuppies who now live in the country. they have a 1 hour ride to work and they leave the house 40 minutes before they have to be in to work. guess they figure they will make up the difference on the back roads.

I thought that we had ended up with all the transplanted
yuppies in our area.It is good to know that others also get to put up with their condescending attitude and care-for-
nobody driving style.
Yeah, I don't know, I look back on it now and I'm glad I didn't do something stupid... I came darn close to though... But the people who want to act like that... let them act that way. One day they'll get whats comin' to them.

I just down shift a gear or two. I wouldnt want to give them too much of a warning. I did this in my Dakota. We were traveling about 70-75 on 290 (Houston). I had a truck on my right, a retaining wall on my left, a truck in front of me and a lady in a Caddy riding my buttocks hard. I went from 5th to 3rd. The back end of that Caddy came up fast and hard. She didnt get the hint though. As soon as I could get over I let her pass and ride the other guys butt for awhile.
The best thing to do, in my experance is to ignore them. Being as unaffected as possible by other drivers' actions has kept me out of trouble far more than once. Besides, my lack of emotional engagement causes these folks to really get frustrated - they didn't even upset me...?!
I get sick and tired of the yuppies out running around in the woods around here. I live on a 1 lane gravel road way out in the National Forest and these yuppie types seem to enjoy running the forest roads on the weekends. Problem is even when they see you on a horse riding down the side of the 1 lane road they refuse to slow down. It's not a problem on a older horse but 9 out of 10 times I'm on somebody else's green 2 year old and they are running 60 mph down a 1 lane gravel ridge rd. If their not doing that they are running up and down the highway on bicycles. It's a 2 lane highway with no shoulders and lots of hills bordering a creek for miles. They will not move over or pull off in a drive to let you by. I followed one for 15 miles and he refused to let me and my 3 horse slantload trailer by him. I finally cranked the box up, locked the mystery switch and let him have it as I went around. Went I reached my turnoff the guys in the truck behind me that also passed him when I did were all hanging out the window giving us the thumbs up sign and honking.
