Me and my brothers went in on a Grandfather Clock for my mom. When my father was alive we gave him money to go by himself another gun for his collection.

I used to buy my dad tools to work on machinery at the farm. The year before he passed I bought him a pair of Carhartt coveralls. He wouldn't work in them, they were his "going to town" coveralls. A couple of years later my mom gave them to me. I wore them up to this year (8 yrs), but now I'm too fat to zip them up easily!

I buy dad alot of tools , since i lost or broke most of his when i was a kid , i buy him good stuff too, MAC , snap on , etc.

I bought them a gift certificate for a 2 night stay at a really cool resort/getaway spot which isn't really far from home , but it gave them a chance to get away from it all for a few days , at no cost to them.

I don't buy presents. Unless they're for a young women as part of a hopeless and ill-inspired quest towards failure...

The only gift my father has ever appreciated was tools. He still has a new cell phone and GPS unit sitting in their original boxes from the 2 previous Christmas.
