Well Hello There

i kinda stumbled over this forum and have been lurking for a few weeks. i don't know where to do introductions, and this seems like as good aplce as any.

unfortunatly i do not have a diesel... ...yet, but i am in a constant state of saving and researching. i drive a '00 wrangler, which is pretty fun, but i love the smell and the sound of a diesel. i live in Manassas Virginia, and often get out to the blueridge mts for weekends of hiding from reality. i am a teacher, and i am 26 years old, based on that and the fact that i have a mortgage a diesel truck may be further down the road than i would like, but what can you do. you gotta start somewhere. i have found that most people swear by the cummins, and diesel owners tend to set the big 3 into order as dodge, chev, ford.

anyway, just wanted to say hello to everyone. i look forward to learning lots of good information from all of you guys.

thanks
Liam

Howdy and welcome.

A new truck may not be happening for a while, but have you considered gently used ones?

1st gens are pretty cheap, 2nd gens are getting there.

Welcome Bunks,

Why not toss a 4bt in the wrangler and have the best of both worlds?

yeah when i say "new" i mean new to me. i actually love the 1st gen. they have a great look, but with a 85 lb boxer i really would like the extended cab (you know, to keep the dog alive and the windshield intact) and they are harder to find. the second gen is more probably more realistic although still a bit out of my price range.

i really like the idea of having the ability blow my frineds off the road, while driving all the way to boston w/o stopping for gas

i was just reading a 9 page thred (on this board) about a guy who played tug o war with the new tundra. cracked me up. a buddy of mine just got the tundra, and as nice as it is, he thinks it will smoke anything on the road in any competition. i should send the link to him

I wish I would have found this site before I bought my truck. There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to the Cummins application in a Dodge truck. More info here than should be legal. Welcome

if you had known then what you know now, would any of it affected your purchase? would you have made different decisions?

I may have been more inclined to buy a 12V, but I do not regret my truck purchase. The only thing one must remember, with a VP44 its not a question of if , but a question of when. I put on a new pump and started saving for the next one. By far the most durable and solid truck I have ever had.
