Weird question

Hi,

Does anyone have a suggestion for capping the ends of 1" square tubing. I made a rack for some shoes today and the open ends of the tubeing is exposed. Any ideas what I could stuff in there to cover the ends, but, look fairly nice. Not redneck!

Thanks!

They actually make a black plastic molding that fits over the ends depending on the size of the sqaure tubing. Go to Home Depot or Ace Hardware. They will have what your looking for. I don't think that will look too Redneck either.

Although, I like RedNeck

Buy a can of spray foam insulation, spray it in there, let it expand and set up, then cut the excess off flush with the end of the tube and paint it to match the original color of the tube.

Too redneck?

What application do you need it covered for? Just to keep rain out, or will it need to support weight?

I would take a piece of that tubing, cut it down, and weld it to the end and go to it with a grinder if you needed support. If it's just for show, I'd go with some spray insulation, let it dry, sand and paint it.

Heck, a piece of painted 2x4 and some good glue...

Thanks for the replies fellas. I have been accused of doing some redneckish things in my life,so, I like redneck too

But, I am a full-time farrier of 18 years, and I built the rack(which holds shoes) and gets heavy, for my shoeing rig. I got it all painted and mounted so welding on it again would'nt be an option. The sparay foam sounds good. Gonna wonder around the hardware store and see what I can come up with.
Normally wouldn't care but my rig needs to stay looking good, as I shoe for some high end clients. and appearance is important to them.

Thaks,

Dan
