Weird KDP question

OK here goes. Me and a buddy set out to kill my killer dowel pin tonight. The advice in the sticky was great. We got the timing cover off no problem. We then went to tab the KDP and that's my weird question. My timing gear housing is NOT the same as the one you guys have in your pictures and this is the second truck my buddy has done this to and it is not the same timing gear housing as the one he fixed before. On the picture and on my buddy's truck the bolt that you bolt the tab onto and the KDP are on the same plane. They are next to eachother and their openings are level with one another, but on my truck they are not. The bolt that the tab bolts to is recessed lower than the KDP. The KDP is obviously on a different plane than the tab bolt. So my question is this. Could the previous owner have had dodge do this the right way and replace this time gear housing to address this KDP and that is why I have a different housing or are there anymore suggestions to why my housing is different than EVERYONE elses. Also since the tab bolt and the KDP were not on the same level our only option was to peen (spelling?) or tap all around the pin to push some aluminum off in the hole to keep the KDP from coming out. Do you think this will be sufficient?? Thanks in advance

I peened mine, took a punch with a point and smacked it on four places around the pin. No way it's coming out now.
