I agree about a painfully loud horn! Something that sounds like 900,000lbs on steel rails activates something visceral in a fool drivers mind.
Although, I recently had a case where I WISHED I had one of those surplus train horns @ 185psi, but the problem was, I was too busy performing evasive maneuvers to be able to activate my existing puny dodge tootwhistle..

I know what you mean when you say about all them darn crazy loonatic drivers.

My Pops hauls gasoline(8,000 gallon tanker) And he tells me all the time how people pull out in front of him and jam on the brakes when he is running 60 mph. He has had his share of accidents with people pulling out in from of him. Last year, some lady in a minivan pulls out in front of him and stops. He was going around 30 mph when he smacked her in the rear. Not a pretty sight is all I can say.
The crazy thing is, She jumps out of the van screamming at him telling him that he was following to close to her. He told her that he could not stop on a dime like she could. Cops come and tell the lady that it was here fault because she entered the lane without looking.
Genuine Idiots I tell you.

Houston; 4th Largest city in USA. Streets at least mostly run @ 90 degrees to each other with a large loop around it. VERY congested at times but what do you expect. Drivers generally courteous.

SA; A one-eyed stumbling drunk layed out downtown in late 1800's;streets in downtown area go at odd angles to each other & sunddenly turn one-way.
Outside of downtown is OK; large loop around city with loop around that one
(1604) Very well thought-out.

Austin; Cheeseball,egghead,tassle-shoed capital of Texas. Kinder, gentler types abound everywhere. This city belongs in California or up east. Nothing
representative of Texas there anymore but the Longhorns. People are transplanted & rude;have no common sense, they cannot drive nor do they care! Was once best city in Texas but that was 20-30 years ago before eggheads arrived. City laid out to accomodate egghead pilgrimage to the hills
in late '70s-early 80s. Only attribute is that it is visually one of the prettiest
areas in Southwest US. I live equidistant to SA & Austin; My dollars & gas will go to SA,BY FAR. Us hardcore rednecks fit in much better there.....git'er done!
Oh yeah. Austin has one shining star: Sammy & Bob Show 6-9am, KVET 98.1
They also play good, original country music.

Hmmm...I guess my considering one of those ultra-loud Peterbuilt horns wasn't just a wild idea. It's a high priority on my list of mods now. Maybe we need to start a movement here....to try and get more Cummins owners on the big horn wagon and that way, when a driver looks over and sees us coming, they'll think twice cause they'll remember the last time they pulled in front of one and remember the SHOCK AND AWE that met them afterwards. I don't think too many Cummins owners would disagree if Dodge just went ahead and put one in as standard equipment Would you take a BLAST HORN FROM HELL in your CTD??? I'm curious to see what you guys think...considering that most want maximum noise levels with these trucks...lol

Nothing is much louder than railroad locomotive horns... Just do a DTR search on "air horns" and look at some of the members cool pics of their SERIOUS horn installations.

Indiscriminate use will cause trouble with the constabulary, as they're best reserved for those times you picture in your mind doing highly lethal things to that idiot driver that almost caused YOU to get killed.

I'd LOVE to have one of those "big'uns" though...
Believe it or not, I tested a cheap, handheld, potmetal "Falcon Horn" on 120psi compressed air and I thought I was going to be deaf whenever I hit the air valve... MAN those little things screech! A pair of those sprayed black may soon be mounted behind the grille of my '97. If I can find one that is just "slightly" off-pitch from the other one, it will make a noticeable "beat note" when sounded together...

You said it. I used to LOVE Austin - It was just about the coolest place on earth, I'd say about pre 1995. Now it SUX. I guess that's what happens when Liberals flourish and nobody cleans up after them...
