Warning about an item on Ebay

Hey guys I just wanted to warn any of you EBAY buyers out there of a scam that took my buddy for $8,500 smackers!!

The item is a 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. When my friend bid on & PURCHASED this Jeep it was supposibly located in Kent, Washington. The name the guy goes by is Bruce Thomas.

The run down is my friend found this Jeep on Ebay about a month ago and sent the guy an email asking a few questions. Well a few days later the Jeep was removed off Ebay so he naturally thought someone had already purchased it. Well about 2 weeks after that he recieved an email from this Bruce Thomas fella saying that the buyer had backed out and the Jeep was back up for sale but the transaction was going to go through EBAY motors. Reason for that was so that both him and my friend were protected...............WRONG! He had setup a fake Ebay motors account to have him WIRE the money too. Yep he wired the money so right there is where he screwed up! The whole deal sounded fishy to me from the get go and I warned my friend not to do it.........but he didn't listen.

Well after the deal was all final, the guy was going to deliver the Jeep to Colorado ( since he JUST happened to be a truck driver ). The day that he was supposed to show up.............he didn't!! All phone calls went un answered and the guy just fell of the face of the earth. A week later the phone number was disconnected. Now the Jeep is back on ebay but is located in TEXAS!

So yeah if any of you guys run across this Jeep on Ebay avoid it like the plague! Evidentally this Jeep has been sold 7 times but nobody has recieved it. Sooooooo just wanted to warn my fellow DTRonians!!

Ohhh and if you guys want to comment, please keep it civil!! That way TOP wont have to whack you guys!!

I can't see what drives folks to be dishonest like that. I feel guilty when Lowes rings up a tool wrong and I get it for half price and I tell them to check it. I wish natural selection would weed a few more folks out in the world.

So, how is it that the minimum bid is now $22,000 and he got it for $8500? Was that just a down payment?

Oh I totally agree with you! And this deal was WAY to good to be true. The price the guy had it listed for was what set off my suspicion, he could have gotten double that price from any local car dealer especially for that Jeep!

I don't get it either. Evidentally from what the police told my friend is that this guy has made over $100,000 on this Jeep so far.

And I feel the exact same way when stuff rings up wrong........I feel like I'm stealing from them so I'm always honest and tell them to check it too!

Has anyone considered turning this information over to the FBI?

Sorry I forgot to add that........FBI is involved in this matter! They contacted my friend and asked for every detail he could give them. I guess they've been after this guy for awhile now!

Your buddy should have read the first tip!

Maybe this guy took the advice that is advertised on TV..."make money from your home computer...sell things on Ebay and never even have to touch them".

That must be the reason why the ad is still up.
People should reserve chatting with this seller so the FBI can track him down easier.

eBay is such a waste anymore!

They need to make some major tweeks or I don't see them lasting beyond this decade. I typically don't deal with anyone who has a low feedback score unless it is all 100%. Mine is a whopping (7), but it is still 100%! People that have a feedback score of (102648) and are at 98%, well that's understandable with that many transactions.

Sorry for your buddy's misfortune. Some folks need to learn the hard way and that was really hard!
