VOOM is the newest satellite company. Basically, they offer more HD programming than any other competitors. Downside is the installation costs are much, much higher; over $700.00 at the present time. Once a subscriber, you have access to HD broadcasts without the extra fee the others impose. One thing you can't get with VOOM is Tivo. I will never subscribe to a service that doesn't offer Tivo. To me, Tivo is the greatest thing to happen to television since the advent of color programming. My DirecTV service integrates Tivo into the satellite receiver.

Even if you could get that service with Tivo, it probably wouldn't work for long. Following the whole MP3/file sharing thing, the big media companies are having fits over the thought of people being able to record HDTV, so they're trying to use the misbegotten DMCA to put a stop to it.
