well i used a torch and a heavy duty gasket scraper to get the big stuff off, and then sandblasted the rest. This of course was on my '57, so it might not work on your newer stuff

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Some of that kind of material is almost impervious to solvents. It is particularly hard if the hood is still attached to the vehicle. If you can turn the hood over, it will make things easier. You can try a small area with toluol or MEK. Be very careful breathing the fumes on these as it will quickly rot your lungs etc. Use gloves. Another thing you can try is a good quality gooey paint stripper, but let it sit for a while. Don't think that an easy way exists to remove that stuff.

I've always heard kerosene will take it off, with a little help from a scraper.

Thanks to you all! I will try the kerosene. I have the hood off that is the toughest stuff I ever saw you can't even scrape it with a putty knife
after soaking it.

Are you sure that it is undercoating material? The way you are describing it, it is starting to sound like Rhino or Line-X. If there are one of those dealers near you call them and ask what they use to get it off.
Sounds like you will also need at least a 5 gallon bucket of elbow grease. Don't buy the cheap verson as it does not work. Go to Home Depot and ask them for their best quality elbow grease. Try the paint department.
