Trying for new lawn

Still kicking this around. I've got about 3 acres, front yard, that I want to grow grass on. Currently its hard pane from the original site build. Its a rough grade. Not much grows on it just sparse weeds of sorts. Can I drop 4-6 inches of topsoil right on top of that and go forward with grass growing? Or do I have to "prep" it at all. There are no bugs, that I know of living there.

thanks

Fall is the best time to seed if you can't water it alot. Been there done that. Rent a straw blower and blow on straw after you seed also. Put seed on at 400lbs per acre when seeding for new lawn. This will get you the most out of your investment.

My .02 cents worth.
