thanks for sharing your experience with your cam unit, Jim

the roads are full of drivers who think nothing of taking an exit from the center lane or just plain pulling in front of you with no regard for the size of your rig or how much distance it needs to stop safely...every time I hear a radio traffic report about an accident involving a truck, it's reported from teh standpoint of the TRUCK ("...down to one lane as a jack-knifed semi is pulled off the road" or "box truck rear-ended a car"). the fact is that the great majority of truck drivers, and those of us pulling trailers, drive REALLY carefully and leave plenty of distance between us and those we follow. but that space is constantly invaded by people seeking an advantage over traffic, which causes us to slow down to maintain the following distance.

these video machines could really set the record straight in those cases, but it has to record in high-def so vehicle tags are readable!

the trucker cam was cool as it had GPS capability AND it had a g-force sensor that would automatically record fifteen seconds before and after an impact (had a manual mode too). there's no point in recording an uneventful trip!

Ideally, a recording lens should be built into the back side of the GPS (hardwired to your electrical system), so it's one unit. I wonder if Garmin has thought of that yet?

There is an optional WFi back I also want to get.

The pictures are in Hi Def.

I have the Motorsports Edition and have about $500.00 invested less warranty.

This I caught with my Canon 12mp camera I always carry at all times,
I was going down I-10 Kellogg Hill and had to slide from the #1 lane to take the next off ramp as I pulled right in behind this guy, I moved over as quickly as possible to so I was not behind him, his load projected probably 5-6 feet behind the trailer.

I cringe when I see something like that, it looks like he might have had a flag at one time but something this dangerous should have had a banner.
If I did not have to take another freeway I would have tried to get a company name and report to his dispatcher before somebody got killed.

I feel sorry for whomever hits my truck from behind, I fear hitting someone who's cut in front of me, since it will always be booked as "following too close"
