C/B Ham Types Gather Round

I left the c/b world many years ago. just a basic 40 channel with a K-40 and small foot warmer. Now I am looking to rejoin the radio ranks. My question is what is an acceptable ssb/ for rv travels and if needed emergency use.I have been looking at president HR 2510's which is also the Uniden "Lincoln".Or, would I be better off with something like a Yaesu handheld which means I join the licensed amateur ranks.Open to and all legitimate suggestions.I would prefer input from users, not just from the hip.

Here? SERIOUSLY?

Sorry I can't help, but I bet a PM to Claude would get you more info than you could ever imagine. I kinda think he may be a walking encyclopedia for all things ham/cb.

CQ CQ DX..

I am in the process of doing something for buggy to buggy communication as well. it sucks when you loose the tail gunner in Moab as the wind blew away the tracks in the sand and he took the wrong turn

I have heard good things on the Yeasu gear (water/dust proof) and more importantly for my application, shock proof. Here is a 75 watt VHF/UHF unit:

http://www.yaesu.com/indexVS.cfm?cmd...5&isArchived=0

It can be had for less than 200 on amazon.. With the right brackets/transformer it could easily be moved between vehicles/trailers/houses

Yaesu also have units with built in intercom and some that will interface with / broadcast GPS info with a recipient list of your choosing (look above the radio in the link I gave you). This would allow the tail-gunner to track you in Moab

I've resurrected my CB interest in my 97 with a Cobra 28LTD radio and I may as well just hung a bag of sand in my truck for the amount it gets used. I haven't had a radio for about 4 years and I guess in that time, everyone gave up on them. I've called for weather and road conditions on major highways and hear crickets. Pretty sad. Wasted my time and money.
