Stevie Ray Vaughn, one of my favorites, and I'm a geezer that was there when all this was going on. My problem was I was fighting the war, not protesting about it. Stopped playing years ago but lately picked up the ukulele. Don't laugh, I have an 8 string and a four string tenors and they are a real joy to me now with my arthritic fingers. Can still play them.

Around 1970/71 my Dad came home early and caught my older brother and I listening to Hendrix playing The Star Spangled Banner on his stereo (it was better than ours). Dad was a LtCol (Korea and Nam) at the time and didnt care for rock so I figured we were in trouble. Turns out, for some reason, he really liked it. Said it was the best use of an electric guitar he had ever heard. Go figure.
I pictured him more as a ballad of the yellow beret kinda guy...
