Time For Me To Get Outta Here !! (so. Cal) Anyone Else ?
i hear ya fellas. im in NW Georgia. Originally from S. GA and thought it would be better up here but still 100 deg and 100% humidity.
You know its good when you turn off the water heater in May because you wont need it, and then think about adding some kinda water cooler for showers!
It just stopped raining and the suns coming out. It should be a nice steam bath by 5 when its time to clean stalls and feed...

I lived in Orange County mostly for about 20 years since 1974 then I split up with my wife and got the heck out of there. A big part of the split was because SoCal was getting so socialistic. The crime was rampant and the restrictions on property are ridiculous.
I am getting back together with the wife but I only go back there a few months out of the year. She lives in Santa Ana and when I drive back there I have to put my car in storage because there is ZERO on street parking available. You need a permit to park on the street and unless you own a house you don't get a permit. Apartment dwellers need not apply.
Now I live in Coffeyville, KS because I can breathe and work on the truck. I can spray paint in the driveway without Mrs. Grundy calling the cops. We get a little snow but the humidity can get a little bad in the summer. We just had a big flood but that's not supposed to happen again for 100 years.
Wherever you go, stay away from the big cities. I'm 60 miles from Tulsa and 120 miles from Wichita and I like it that way. The people are friendly and ready to lend a hand. I can go off and leave the tools in the driveway while I go get a part and they are still there when I get back. Half the time I don't bother to lock the door when I go to the WalMart.
And best of all, NO SMOG CHECKS!

) in 1995 and only go back to visit my Mom and Sister / Brother in Law when I have to. I ended up in Missouri. I don't mind the winter, and the spring and fall are great. The summer is OK with the exception of a couple of weeks when the temps and humidity are both high.If you're a house owner in Ventura, you'll love the housing prices around here - I'm in the western suburbs of St. Louis.
Its funny that i didn't list MO. as one of the places i was looking at but i have heard some good things about it.
I'm also sure that wherever we decide to go it will more that likely be a town we have never heard of before. Something a few mi. out of the main city in that state.
I am sure there are a ton of people out there that are either currently in, or have been in the same situation I'm in now, and i am really interested to here from all of them so i can start to narrow down the places were going to have to go and visit before we make a final decision.

"Racer" I have found some very strange and unique tenets there in Mo. like, people smile at you ,say good morning and don't even put a knife in your back and twist it.
Not a Hollywood crowd.
When I left Burbank in'85 ,I could be at Riverside Raceway in less than 80 min.In Jan.I went down to LA City Hall for a bid and traffic was already backed up @ 6 flags at 6:00 AM.I could not believe it!

I moved out of CA 6 years ago, I lived in Santa Clarita, about 50-60 miles from the coast. I'll tell you what after moving to Texas, you couldn't pay me enough to move out of TX!!! My parents, sister and I go out for Christmas every year and stay about 10-14 days, about the 2nd-3rd day I'm ready to hop back on the plane to get to TX! or start walking back at least! I absolutely hate it there. Sorry anybody from there, don't take it the wrong way. Well, yeah it does get over 95 here in the summer but only get a little snow, tons of small towns. Maybe even start one yourself!
I know A LOT of Californians relocating to central Texas (Austin area) recently. A friend of mine moved from Long Beach, sold his tiny little 2/1/1 house for a ton of money, moved here to Lockhart, TX, bought a gigantic super nice house built in 1932 (paid for), built a huge shop, truck shipped his 8 hot rods and custom cars, a vintage boat, and a vintage camper. His wife stays home with the kids, while he works as a sign painter at my shop to pay the utilities and the mortgage payments on 2 properties he just bought to rent out. For a hot rodder like myself...that's the American Dream.
Don't even get me started about the traffic i have to deal with on a daily basis. I have been driving the same route fore 23 years. Its around 35 mi. one way. what used to take me 35min. now can take up to 1 1/2 - 2 hours
Needless to say " I'm done with traffic"

At least it felt the same when I've been to Sikeston many times.
