There was a guy painting my house last summer, and he was working when I came home from work one day.

He comes up to me, "That thing got a Hemi?"

Of course, without missing a beat, I told him "Yup, sure does"

My dad and I both have 2003 2500HDs. His is an 8.1/allison with 3.73s and mine is a 6.0/4L80E with 4.10s. His is bone stock, mine has a K&N CAI, and a little programmer thats supposed to yield 20+ more HP, but honestly i cant really tell a difference. I give mine absolute heck when i drive it, and he babies his around. He averages about 10mpg and i usually average about 11.8mpg. His seems to get out of the hole quicker than mine, but from like a 40mph kick i can eat him alive. His truck seems like it handles a load a little better, but for 2.1 more liters of displacement, im not really impressed with it at all.

I've noticed a trend towards brand loyalty around here that borders on comical. I think most people feel that after spending whats a huge amount of money on something they feel like they have to promote that item so they don't look foolish or like they aren't in complete control of everything around them. There's a joker in a huge lifted Chevy that has all the Calvin peeing on the other brand stickers all across the back window. I 've seen that truck at a lot of aftermarket suppliers parking lots always getting something done to it while he stands around talking on his phone. I bet all he's ever done is put fuel in it and make the payments but he sure has an opinion on everything else on the road! I just get a kick out of how he knows that Dodge and Ford products are so inferior to his choice of truck. I know what my Cummins can do and I have never really cared what others think, but it just makes me smile with all these 'experts' around.

Im a die-hard chevy fan when it comes to gassers, but the cummins diesel just cant be beat when it comes to diesels.
What I really want to do is take a 1000 hp dbl blown cummins off of one of these mud pumps they use in the oilfields and put it in a truck.
