Good Monday morning all.
Today is Monday, April 11th.
On this day in 1783 - After receiving a copy of the provisional treaty on March 13, the U.S. Congress proclaimed a formal end to hostilities with Great Britain.
1876 - The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was organized.
1898 - U.S. President William McKinley asked Congress for a declaration of war with Spain.
1899 - The treaty ending the Spanish-American War was declared in effect.
1941 - Germany bombers blitzed Conventry, England.
1945 - U.S. troops reached the Elbe River in Germany.
1945 - During World War II, American soldiers liberated the **** concentration camp of Buchenwald in Germany.
1951 - U.S. President Truman fired General Douglas MacArthur as head of United Nations forces in Korea.
1968 - U.S. President Johnson signed the 1968 Civil Rights Act.
1970 - Apollo 13 blasted off on a mission to the moon that was disrupted when an explosion crippled the spacecraft. The astronauts did return safely.
1974 - The Judiciary committee subpoenas U.S. President Richard Nixon to produce tapes for impeachment inquiry.
1981 - U.S. President Ronald Reagan returned to the White House from the hospital after recovering from an assassination attempt on March 30.
1984 - China invaded Vietnam.
1986 - Kellogg's stopped giving tours of its breakfast-food plant. The reason for the end of the 80-year tradition was said to be that company secrets were at risk due to spies from other cereal companies.
2001 - China agreed to release 24 crewmembers of a U.S. surveillance plane. The EP-3E Navy crew had been held since April 1 on Hainon, where the plane had made an emergency landing after an in-flight collision with a Chinese fighter jet. The Chinese pilot was missing and presumed dead.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?
Coffee is on along with the ph00.

eek. could not tell if "that" were women. and i worked in max security men's prisons with segregated 'imposters'. got to agree about madhat's wal mart pics...if they are out there, they will show up at wal mart.
smooth orange chocolate is a German treat, not the commercial candy stuff sold at stores. this stuff comes from a family store 16 generations of chocolate makers from the old country . awesome and still going strong. I make the 240 mile trip every year.
Scott, why so much wood? didya get to use the tree guys' chipper for the limbs? came back from the FIL to get our scaffolding and saw the (8) 40 inch or better cherry logs still sitting around. shame to waste.
50 degrees here is enough to go for a harley ride, then hike a trail. wonder for the soul! slowed down the eager workers to make everything safe. feel so much better now. phone call from town highway guys; they are fixing some water flow problems to my land and giving me the dug dirt, just doesn't get any better!!!
Happy Bday madson!
T rad, R U sure you want to go there? muh ha ha.............

OH my goodness, Don - - you have changed to the better since the last time I saw you - - looking good, man. That is you - - right????
Out as soon as I could see the ground this morning and back on my thatching of the side yard under the oaks. Mercy, this was the year for the major crop of acorns and falling leaves. It is just plain killing my grass, so the time had come to try and save the rest of the grass and get that stuff out of my thick lawn. Fourth day of doing this and still only half done. Mercy my arms and hands hurt. I have 14 bags of heavy acorns, leaf something - - don't whether to call it mulch or what, but it sure is heavy and just mats the ground. Waste collector is going to have a hernia when he starts to lift them suckers - - they are heavy. Hopefully the grass will start to come back in.
OK, off to lunch. See ya.
