Angry Stolen.....at lunch

Yesterday we had a reunion of our old car club from the 60's at a bar and grill we used to hang out at.

While we were enjoying ourselves, some lowlifes stole my 12k watt generator right out of the back of my 1 ton dually parked in the pub parking lot. I also have a 2500 pound block of concrete for winter traction so they had to lift it over this to get it out. The gen weighed right at 300 pounds and was a real project to get it in the truck.

I was only in the pub for 2 hours right at noon. They had to come right up to the back of the truck to get it out. They did open the tail gate as the snow was disturbed and there were foot prints in the bed.

The cops asked for a discription. I took out my camera and showed them a good picture of the serial number and model number as well as a number of other pictures of the unit. He said "great every pawn shop within 200 miles will have this in 15 minutes."

We looked at the security camera and wouldn't you know it, both cameras were looking at the rear lot and not the front lot.

Hard to believe that this could happen right across the driveway from a big window in the pub, middle of the day.

It was covered with a nice custom made cover so it wasn't too obvious. I guess I should have chained it down too.

I was/am totally @#$% about this. "Gone in 2 hours" comes to mind.

I hate another big city....they are nothing but big crime centers.

Guns and C & C would not have prevented this.

Insurance will probably cover this but with some deductable. I'll find out tomorrow.

Really sorry to hear that. Guess the only good thing is that they didnt break windows and stuff to get it. It just makes you feel like screaming. You cant leave anything unchained or out of site now days. Only thing you can hope for is that the turds who got it recieved a hernia that will haunt them forever.

It would be nice to be able to detonate the thing right in their truck.

Someone stole a wire feed welder out of my truck bed as I ate lunch with a friend. They had to cut the chain it was locked in with. The restaurant was even an up scale establishment...........thieves...........want to hang them. No "small tool" insurance, as it has gone thru the roof.

I use cable locks on everything I carry around like that. They won't stop any one that is determined but they slow them down or make them move on to easier pickins.

Sorry for your loss, maybe the fools will electrocute themselves trying to get it started in a puddle of water

I HATE theives. Several years ago I went to Council Bluffs to go to a ATV riding park and when we pulled up and parked there where cops and people standing around. Some one walked up and told us we should move cause the truck next to us just got broke into in bro daylight rite in front of everyone. A carload of Mexicans did a loop around the lot and then stoped at that truck and with in 30-45 seconds they where in it and had the entire stereo and components removed and driving away. They did not care who was watching and where gone before anyone could even get over to the truck. I tipicaly am a law abiding person but at some point vigilanti justice needs to be acceptible.

They just drive up and act like they know what they are doing, like they should be there and no one is the wiser. They also may have had a guy in the bar with a cell watching you to let them know if you were getting up. See if there is any inside cameras and have a look.

That's probably exactly what happened.

I've spent over 8 hours searching the net for security systems. I know close the door after the horse gets out.

I had a place saved that sold transponders that you paid an activation fee then if something got stolen you simple called them and it cost you $50-75 for the search. virtually 100% success. But I've lost it in the last computer crash.

Anybody know of this place??

Not sure if this is feasible or not, but what about installing a motorcycle tilt alarm on your next one or if you get it back?

No, I disagree, people should learn to keep their hands off other peoples things again. This is one area where I agree with Midle Eastern Law, Get caught stealing, lose a hand!

I think DeWalt makes a jobsite security type thing that can be located via GPS. You put them on your tools and if they wander off you can hopefully get a locate before the thief finds the thinger and removes it.

Another option would be installing an alarm with a hood switch in the bed under the generator. Lift the generator and alarm goes off. Just thinking out loud (Well typing anyways).
