The 2006 - 07 5.9L C.T.D. has all the improvements, larger down tube, improved air intake (all it needs is the 4" hole drilled and the new mopar air filter), 325hp, 610 Lb/ft torque just to list a few. I would NOT get the 6.7L because of the D.P.F. and other emissions equipment. Being that close to the border, I would have the factory alarm system on it.

Sorry to hear your truck was stolen. Did they break in and hotwire it? Do things like lojack work once the vehicle is across the border? My buddy had his Rubicon stolen while living in San Diego, had over $10,000 in upgrades. Never saw it again. Good luck with the insurance co. hope you get a fat check so you can buy a new truck!

I agree with ThunderRoad! I would love to get an '06-'07 5.9 4x4 6speed. I dont have any use for a dually, HOWEVER I want one real bad cause they look so tough!
Just did a quick search for an '06 Dodge Ram Diesel on Craigslist...there are quite a few here in Denver between $23K and $28K.

Soryy to hear about your truck being stolen. We have a lot of theft here in New Mexico too.

The 2006 trucks are really nice trucks, I love mine. Like what was said, I'd stay away from all that emissions stuff in the newer models.

RAVELCO and factory alarm is about the best peace of mind with regards to anti-theft.

LOL Dodgezilla.... That gave me a nice chuckle...

State, Lowjack in fact WILL pay when they go over the boarder. I had a buddy in San Diego that his motorcycle was stolen and taken to Mexico. Lowjack knew it was there but the federalies (sp?) wouldn't do anything about it until they got a police report from the state. Lowjack paid him the 10 grand or what ever it was, and then 2 months later he got it all sortd out and his insurance bought him a new bike. He made out in the end, and was able to pay off his new larger bike with the lowjack money.

Where are you suggesting this 4" hole in the intake?

The 4" hole is A.K.A. the d.i.y. kit. I went to NAPA for the parts. You drill a hole in the bottom of the air filter box. Install the flange and flex tube down to frame level. Flange is pn#735-5935. Flex hose kit is 735-5911. Anchored bottom of flex with a factory push pin thru tube and plastic shield behind bumper. I will go outside and take pics.

At your request, hear are the pics, lol. 1) air filter box cover 2) inside of air filter box. note self taping screws. 3) flex tube down to frame. note double clamps at top. 4) Push pin thru tub to plastic shield behind bumper, not the right front wheel well shield. tube drop between shields. Also found my turbo inlet vains dirty. See my post "dirty turbo inlet"

I don't have lowjack, so I don't know how much they pay. But they paid him the full amount what ever it was. So that and the money that he got from insurance was enough to pay off his new bike.

I just texted him and he got 5 grand from LowJack and another 2500 from some other insurance thing that came with his bike. So that on top of what his motor cycle insurance paid, covered his brand new R1.

Thunder,

How much dirtier does your air filter get with that cut into the box?
